Is this a serious rally or just a fun rally. I did the Michigan gumball for the second time this year and it was a blast.

Somewhere in between. There are teams that take it fairly seriously (the winning team was less that 4 minutes off of par of the entire day of driving) and some who are just in it to have fun. The overall atmosphere is pretty laid back, but nowhere near as obnoxious as come of your big, super expensive coast-to-coast/international rallies.
