Hope you’re doing okay. As cliche as it sounds, a car is replaceable but you’re not.

You’re posting about it, so that’s good. I don’t see a deployed airbag. Looks like a truck, maybe?

You good, man?

Doesnt look like the airbags went off at least, nor is there a giant puddle of coolant. Assuming no frame damage or anything else crazy, you should be able to recover from this one! Hope the whiplash isnt too bad either, that is always the worst the next day.

At least now you can say “well shit cant get much worse this week” and find a way to get out of the hole.

Good eye. Commercial van. Onramp. He was in front of me. Car went by in the merge lane; I saw it go by and accelerated. For some reason he was still at a dead stop in front of me.

Have you considered moving out of Maryland? I think about that every time I have a shitty week.

I’ve done the same thing. I wanted to get out and yell, WHY DIDN’T YOU GO but of course, I didn’t do that.

Ugh, that sucks. I recognize the damage a high bumper and hitch can do.

Sorry this happened.

Yeah at first I was like just get it out of my face and junk it, but I had a smoke and took a look at it. I hear hissing from someplace but no puddles of fluid.

Great excuse to make a track car I guess.

Glad you’re ok but maybe too soon with the title.

That could easily just be a vaccum leak of some sort, something just knocked loose. Haha track car from a wrecked car is always a good thing! But if all you need to replace is a hood, headlight, grill, and maybe the bumper? Then that doesnt sound too bad. Would certainly be pricey enough to total it through insurance, but should be a relatively simple DIY job, other than paint.

lol it’s actually happened to me twice, same thing. Both were minor bumps, fortunately for me. But still.

Ugh. JUST had that happen to me two weeks ago. I thought the car in front of me made her right turn but she stopped halfway in the street and I was trying to follow but looked left at the same instance. Mercifully Ijust touched the corner of the escape that was hidden in my A-pillar. Total damage was literally just a scratch that wouldn’t buff out.

...I don’t think some polish and a good towel will help with this one.

That happened to a friend of mine, he was able to successfully argue the other driver was at fault as there is no reasonable expectation for someone to be stopped on an onramp.

Kinja'd!!!

See, you can’t pull out past the stop sign and then not go when it’s clear.

Pentagon in the background btw.

Been there. Done that. Totally my fault. Yeah, she started going, then changed her mind, but I should have checked before I stepped on the gas. I was too busy looking left.

Had a similar incident once but I was the one being hit. I was pulling off of a side street which was at a 45* angle to the main road and the person in front of me who I was pulling out behind decided to pull a 3 point turn and back into the lane in front of me. I got off the gas and brushed the brake and then the Volvo 940 behind me booped me in the rear bumper. The only outwardly visible damage was a small black mark on my bumper which I removed by simply rubbing it with my thumb. We both would have just driven off if the hyper sensitive early 90s airbags in the Volvo hadn’t gone off.

Sorry to hear that. It was a teaching moment for me. I shouldn’t make that mistake twice!
