Did not know the Expedition got a refresh for 2018. It looks pretty pissed about it, too.

Edit: Decided to run a config on it. Even for the Maxx it only comes with a V6. Seems like a lot of weight to carry for a 3.5 liter. Also looking at $84k for a fully spec’d top trim level.

Interesting, I love the expedition though. Every single one that my family has owned have been fantastic and reliable. One even saved us when black ice caused us to spin across 3 lanes of busy traffic. They are definitely getting up there in price but the comfort definitely rivals the cost. I wouldn’t even hesitate to drive our 2013 across the country.

Only a v6? Yeah, a v6 with 400hp and almost 500lbs of torque with a 10speed trans.

I’m sure they are nice. The one I spec’d out looked to be well appointed for what it was. I guess the main thing is just realizing the sign of the times and vehicles in general aren’t cheap anymore.

Just for laughs I went and spec’d a black label Navigator afterwards just to compare. I think if I was going to put that sort of money on a Ford Product I would go with the Lincoln instead. It made the Expedition look pedestrian, but holy geez $101k with every option.

I know, but still. It just doesn’t seem right to have something that large with a smaller than V8 engine in it. I’m just living in the past I guess.

Have you been under a rock for the last 7 years? The Ford 3.5 TTV6 has been more powerful and faster than the 5.0 V8 since late 2010. I thought people were over it lol.

As for pricing, I really don’t see how this or the Tahoe can compete against the much nicer Audi Q7 and Merc GLS now that they’re all at a similar price point.

Isn’t it all new for 2018 with the up spec EB 3.5 like the Lincoln? Not as good looking as the Lincoln but still pretty potent.

I am just stating that it’s hard to imagine a vehicle that size coming with something smaller than a V8. Like I said in other replies, I guess I am just living in the past. If it is capable of hauling itself and the payload capacity around then that’s great.

The Triton’s of yesteryear had right around 200hp and sub 300tq with 4 speeds. I’m sure they weighed less but not by much.

It is nice to say V8 but look at the late 90s and early 2k mustangs with their modular V8s producing much less (from the factory) compared to today’s 6's and the 4 banger boostangs

Yep it is. I looked at the Lincoln afterwards and it’s the same. I actually like the looks of the Lincoln. I found you can get the top trim to $101k on it.

I’m old school when it comes to engines. I’m one of those who for a long time thought certain vehicles should come with a certain engine. You bring up an excellent point on the Mustang, though, and one that I didn’t think about. You’re exactly right, so kudos to you on that good sir.

Im not on the ecoboost train myself, but I have to admit its going to be a great match for that truck. V8's sound the business (starting to REALLY grow attached to my first V8) but they don’t often move like they sound...especially at altitude. Im rarely ever in a place where my engines aren’t 15% down on power for lack of air.

Less spark plugs to lose.

My first vehicle was a 90 F150 and oh did I love saying that it had the 5.0 302 in it.... Always neglecting the mention the 150hp it came with.

But there are few things that match a V8 rumble (especially when cammed)

I could not say the last time that I saw an Expedition or an Excursion. I didn’t know that they are still built. Maybe the Excursion isn’t. Who cares?
