The perfect set of wheels and tires come up for sale locally. I am on 17's right now so upgrading wheels means a new set of 18" tires as well. At $650 for the wheels I want with a good set of tires on them already this is the perfect deal.

Theyre even mounted on a 3rd gen TL like mine in the ad. My Anthracite gray 05 would look glorious on these wheels, especially without the slightly overdone drop that the seller has.

What’s wrong with the Falkens on them? They look like they still have life in them.

I meant that if I buy just wheels ill have to get new tires since I run smaller wheels now. The tires that come with the wheels in the ad are definitely good to go for a while which is why the $650 is a great deal and I wish I could jump on it now.

Ahh gotcha I thought you meant if you got those rims you’d have to get a new pair of tires also.

Nope just if I decide to buy some wheels alone. I prefer brand new wheels but if that means another $500 spent on tires then id rather just go the craigslist route and get the whole setup for <$700

Friends don’t let friends buy XXR.

I’ve had some pretty damn cheap wheels on my past cars and I just don’t think I drive hard enough to need anything better. I had <$500 sets of wheels on my pathfinder and 4runner and bounced them both off boulders once a month and never died, so that’s enough for me!

They are a little played out on the 3g TL though, but thats because they look good (IMO)

Agreed that those look pretty good. But yeah I also agree that XXR is crap. I had a set for my Miata and while they werent terrible, they were just way too heavy. Even for street driving, I hate heavy wheels. But more importantly I’ve heard plenty of broken XXR horror stories to turn me away in the future. I paid $200 for the set with tires so I didnt care what brand it was lol.

The OEM wheels are 2 lbs heavier so that wouldnt be so bad but yeah I guess its not fair comparing cheap wheels to ones I ran before because the cheap wheels I ran before had 33" tires protecting them and it would take a LOT to bend a rim through all that cushion.

I’m in the same boat. I’ve been keeping an eye out for take-off wheels and tires from a newer Silverado for my truck for awhile. For ages all I saw were sets being sold by wheel and tire shops for $1200 a set.

It figures that after I use almost all of my parts fund to buy brake parts and some new hoses a set comes up from a private seller. He’s asking $600 and tires seem to have good tread. I’m crossing my fingers they’ll still be there on payday, but I’d be shocked.

Thats a good deal for newer OEM wheels. I am on a sierra/silverado FB page and the nicer 20 inch ones often run $1k or more.

I’m more interested in the 18" size, but I have only seen them in this price range with decent tires a couple of times. Both naturally were right after I depleted my maintenance fund for parts for something else.
