After my tiny bump left a deep scratch on my bumper I decided that rather than risk fixing the paint in the cold (I have no garage and live in the rust belt) I would cover it with a vinyl sticker to protect it from more damage during the Michigan winter.
...Is it weird that I kinda like how it looks? I feel like I went a bit too ricey with it. But it also covers the scratch and the mild distress around it quite nicely and the vinyl was unexpectedly high quality. Very thick, with good color and easy to apply. Anyone else done this unironically? Bandaid over a small damage spot until you can fix it?

Sort of related but my car wears its battle scars with pride. It shows that it’s like me and has survived a lot but is still going. I totally get it though on a newer car especially if it prevents rust. It’s different on a 2005 Corolla beater.

I would’ve just gone to the dealership and got a paint pen for $20 and covered the blemish. It’s also not like the bumper will rot because not metal. But that does look cool.

Scratch was too deep for a paint pen. It went down to the plastic so I need a bit of filler primer and a good long weekend to do it right. Plus the downside of triple yellow is most places don’t have it in stock and websites seem to give me different yellows so I don’t trust them.

My friend had an escape he got at auction that, as far as we could tell, was totalled due to cosmetic damage from a sideswipe. He just replaced the side mirror and changed the badge on the back to say “Scrape”. That thing kicked ass. Owning the scars can be a cool look.

It’s a reminder to get it fixed next spring. I don’t want it to be too long term. But it looks a lot better than a black line on the bumper.

Yeah, you’ll drive it off the lot for 20k. They are giving away FoSTs. I traded in a 62k mile FiST and got my monthly payments (and insurance payments) lowered by buying a brand new FoST.

They have larger bandages as well as the cross ones. You could get a variety of them!
