That seems like a lot of work for a Blue Flame 6...

Would that important broadcast by chance be something called general conference?

Indeed, though I don’t noise that about too loudly here for fear of the reaction of certain Social Justice Warriors. (I’m one myself; I’m just not a psychopath.) I love that we can watch Conference in our homes, including PH Session. Truly a wonderful thing. Thanks for the note.

There’s a few of us around on Oppo. It is especially nice to be able to watch it from home with young kids. I don’t feel like I’m disturbing other people with noisy kids if I’m n my own home.

I hear what you mean about social justice. I think things are going to get rougher in that regard. People seem to be fine with free speech and differences of opinion until it’s different than what they think the way things should be.

Twenty years ago I used to say that the two greatest challenges to my personal exaltation were making copies in the library at church and trying to view Conference at the Inter Stake Center. I’d be doing well to take in one complete talk. If you think about the Great Conference with King Benjamin, where the families all pitched their tents to face KB’s tower, that’s how it is now, with us in our living rooms in our PJs eating some special breakfast and searching for the remote. My favorite two weekends of the year, bar none. And my appreciation for the speakers and what they offer has grown greatly.

And yes, rougher in that regard. Current POTUS is the Great Divider, the culture warrior.

Please please fire up that shop vac and clean inside that van and under the hood. I’m not OCD but just saying it needs some TLC. For under the hood cleaning buy the cheap $1 orange based cleaner degreaser and a small part or vegetable brush like they sell at Dollar Tree. Spritz it pretty well and use the brush to break that crud free while wetting lightly with a hose. Then rinse without a lot of force to remove whatever else is there. That $1 cleaner has become one of my favorites for engine stuff. I hardly buy Gunk engine cleaner anymore. Then hit all the rubber and plastic stuff under the hood with 303 Protectant or similar.

Believe it or not, that’s pretty much what I’d decided would be the very next thing. I have a friend with a steam cleaner and once I get the thing rolling, I’ll take it to his crane yard and give the engine a good scrubbing. I’ll be scrubbing the front floors and foot wells this weekend. Simple Green...

Under hood cleanup will begin in the battery corner and once I upgrade from the Delcotron alternator, progress to the other corner.

The dog house is a mess. The shell and the (asbestos?) insulation are intact, but the plastic covering is ruined by age, rot and neglect.

Engine runs and vital fluids now seem to all remain inside the engine.

The Dollar Tree stuff is cheaper than Simple Green. My friends who have quads and motorcross bikes use it to clean up the equipment. Used it on my mower and my brother in law thought I’d repainted it.

Point taken. But I already have some Simple Green... The stuff does an amazing job. Seriously though: you beat me to the punch with the scrubby-scrubby demand; I was already there. Next pictures you see you will begin to notice a difference. And the cargo area is already very clean and neat. I need to get some rust out back there and prime and spot paint.

Paint: I want to apply some automotive grade bare metal primer and do so from a very small sprayer that’s like a large air brush. Any recommendations?

You can get a small compressor and sprayer at Harbor Freight for about $100. Just pay attention to the CFM and pressure numbers. I think the 32oz sprayer they have only uses 1-2 cfm at lower 30-40 psi numbers. I have one like it at home but its a 40 year old one that sprays halfway decent. I have a 4 hp 25 gal compressor at home. It runs an airbush, full size sprayer or detail gun. I think you’d be all day trying to use an airbrush and a detail gun would require more CFM than a small compressor.

I have a direct-driven pancake compressor at home. What for paint?

That will work if you get a smaller CFM gun of some type. Make sure your use a separator/drier in the line to keep out the moisture.

I’d wondered about that filter/drier thing.
