This is our 5/8 inch OD fuel line. Its 5 years old and all the sudden we couldn’t pull a prime. We checked to make sure it was clear by putting compressed air in it. All the the sudden we had fuel everywhere inside the car leaking through the braid. That wasn’t what we expected.......

It turns out out 5/8" clad line has a 1/8” liner inside the stainless steel wrap. The liner had just fallen apart. Well lesson learned and we are are back to using indestructible real rubber fuel lines. The braided cover line sure looked nice but we learned sometimes fancy isn’t better.

PS The picture was taken with a Samsung S7.

That’s one if the scary things about braided brake lines too. Dirt can get into the he braided portion and abrade the lining over time and a failure can come without warning. Yeah, sometimes it’s not worth it to be so fancy.

So the line might last longer, but when it goes it won’t be, “oh yeah that line looks bad, I should replace it.” It’ll be “that line looks fine... except it’s leaking like a sieve
