Seems like it could be what I’m looking for. A good deal on a nice appliance with a nice interior, and enough power and features to be more than adequate. Link .

They’re quick. 0-60 in 6.2s, which is nothing to snuff at.

ETA: I believe C&D said the Aura XR is a great daily driver, with the only complaint being light center-steering and a soft ride. They did say it was the most serene/quiet car since the Rolls they tested the same year.

Dayum, no it isn’t. That’s faster than the A8L was with 300hp/310 torques.

Your A8L had a decade-old 5-speed autobox. The XR has a then-new 6-speed auto, which I’m sure helps a lot.

If it’s anything like the Astra it seems to be based on, dull but competent.

It also broke down right around 55 mph.

I seen no flaws with this plan

The joke is that an older A8L’s 0 to 60 time is irrelevant if it breaks down before reaching the desired aforementioned speed.

I’ve been buying Joke of the Day toilet paper at my local Whole Foods.

Vectra. Doesn’t make it any better, though.

You know that if I buy a Saturn, and you’ve got your Lexus, it will be I who will have to make the Whole Foods jokes at you.

It would be quite the turn of events.

The Vectra C, an also-ran in the midsize field. It doesn’t shine anywhere. The Ford Mondeo (Fusion) offered better handling, the Passat felt more upmarket, the Skoda Octavia was priced more competitively... and so on. They didn’t have any obvious flaws, and as they age there isn’t anything catastrophic to watch out for, as Opel learnt a lesson and upped their game.

But, that’s only the mediocre Vectra. I have no idea what they did to it to “Americanize” it. So far, no car has come out the other end of that process and it was better than before.

You have to remove the front bumper to change the headlight bulbs. That’s the extent of my knowledge.

We owned its platform-mate, a 2006 Malibu, and it was horrendous. I think ours was a lemon, though.

The v6 is pretty quick. It’s a decent cruiser. The cabin is quiet and the chassis is forgiving in rough stuff but fairly sporting for a front driver. An XR is equipped with pretty much everything GM had back in the day. There’s a batch of these that has a wonky version of Bluetooth that can pair a phone, but won’t stream audio. I don’t recall when the changeover happened.

The epsilon platform was sort of the beginning of GM getting their shit together in market segments besides full size trucks and corvette. This would be a decent buy.

Had one for a rental. It didn’t suck. If you’re looking for an appliance, it’ll do the job. My neighbors had two for many years and didn’t have any issues with them either. Nice cars.
