So my 2015 Mazda 3 has done this thing 4 times in 2 Days. First was Friday morning and Saturday morning. Twice since this morning. Go to unlock the car and nothing happens. Have to use the physical key. Both morning times the car started just fine but this afternoon and evening it wouldn’t start. I exited the car. Shut the door. And the lock beep did it’s thing. Got in the car and everything worked fine. Got a new car battery. Possibly the fob

My M3 does about the same thing when the battery is drained. Sounds like you need a new battery.

Like E90M3 said, you need a new battery for the key fob.

You can also order a dozen batteries in amazon for the price of one at the local store, FYI.

If that doesn’t fix it, you may have an issue with the Body Control Module

Try a new remote battery first

Except for the car not starting, this sounds a lot like the issues I’ve had when the battery in the remote is getting weak. The functionality depended on the proximity to the car. $1.99 for a CR1620 over at Micro Center and I was back in business.

You can try using your head as an antenna by placing the remote under your chin or against your temple. It’s amazing how much extra range you can get.

My mom’s Lincoln did the same thing when he fob battery got low. Pretty sure that’s your problem.
