Im at the dealer getting my car serviced, and while they service it I walked around the lot. They’ve got a 2013 135is and a 2014 M325i side by side, that got me thinking, which one would you buy? Both lack three pedals, so there is no obvious choice based solely on the transmission.
Personally I’d go for the 1, although I might be a little biased:
Ive had a decent amount of seat time in a 135is and it’s pretty fantastic.

unrelated but have you driven a current-gen F30 3 series? They’re devoid of driving feel and really don’t have that BMW charm

The 135 looks like a 3-Series that was put into a crusher - both ends smooshed-in.

I have driven both a pre-LCI and an LCI. I hated the pre-LCI, but I actually liked the LCI, felt a lot more like a BMW. I was actually surprised, I was ready to hate on it. The steering has been vastly improved in a few years, it’s not as good as the steering in my M3, but it’s getting better.

Ah, good to know. My cousin’s husband has a... 2013? or 14? 328i xDrive and I’ve driven it a few times. Liked my other cousin’s 2003 325xi a lot more

All recent BMWs I’ve driven feel like Toyota or GM offerings to me, aside from interior materials. Definitely not living up to their slogan.

I haven’t driven a 2003 325xi in forever, one of my fraternity brothers had one. I remember it being pretty damn good. The 2017 320i I drove a few months ago was actually pretty decent. It was decent enough that put a stick in it and it’d buy it.

It’s not just a 135i, it’s a 135is. Got a bit more power and it comes with that glorious titanium M exhaust.

Probably the 135is.
Also I’ve driven a e90 335xi with auto transmission. That was a snooze fest, one of the most boring cars I’ve ever driven. I actually preferred the 04 Maxima I had driven the week before.
