Sometimes its really nice to be in Okinawa. Like when you get to see an old Jeep, and think, “cool old Jeep...wait, that’s the Mitsubishi logo.”

Fun fact: When the Imperialist Japanese Army uncovered a Bantam Mk II Jeep, they returned it to their government who ordered Toyota to duplicate it. They came up with the Model AK which eventually spawned a civilian version, the Land Cruiser.

When I imported my Mazda R360 to the States, someone else had brought over 5 of those Jeeps on the same ship and I watched them all parade out of the port. It was such a cool sight. Like I was in Osaka 50 years ago.

You were living in Osaka 50 years ago. You just don’t know it...

I’ve got a Cars & Coffee dump from the 9th that I haven’t posted yet. It’s mostly Rx7s and R32-33 Skylines that military guys own.

Love the Mitsu Jeeps! They were license-built copies of WIllys designs and they built them barely-changed (other than engines...exterior/interior, etc were barely changed) all the way up until ‘98!

I believe Richard Hammond made a TV segment on this very topic.

With the cars I’ve owned, my driveway’s looked like Osaka 50 years ago at times.
