Kinja'd!!!

You’re the most accessible spokesperson for a corporation, work in advertising, and get paid to manage a fucking twitter account. That’s one of the most capitalist and bourgeois jobs I’ve ever fucking heard of. No shit you’re going to be attacked by the extreme left and from their point of view they’re right to do so.

Your exact words

“An entry level community manager who probably ended up in advertising because their first career option wasn’t viable.”

Listen to the cry from the down trodden proletariat! They have to settle for being in advertising, because their first choice wasn’t “viable.” Now they make a living reading and responding to tweets in a sterile and corporate approved way. We cannot forget their struggle!

TL;DR I find it hilarious when college students/educated professionals think they’re the downtrodden workers. I’m like no, there’s millions of people in America who would kill to have your life. Just because you’re in the bottom 25% of the top 50% doesn’t make you working class lol.

Next time, could you copy and paste the text into a block quote? depending on monitor/browser, it’s not always obvious what paragraph you’re quoting.

Minor complaint! Thanks!

My friend once complained about how hard it was to buy a house in our chunk of suburbia, that he “only” wanted a six-figure house multiple bedrooms with a nice kitchen and how he thought it wasn’t too much to ask for.

Same friend was also shocked to find out home prices in the deep South are sometimes cheaper than that of a new car and thought we shouldn’t care about the Wal-Mart/minimum wage employees in our town because they didn’t aspire to become white-collar employees like us.

Privilege! It’s a helluva drug.

You dismantle capitalism with weapons, not with tweets.

I’m guessing in your chunk of suburbia a 6 figure home is not an entry level house?

I wish I got paid to manage a twitter account.

Actually I wish I got paid what I used to make, even if I worked all the time.

The worst part about working a white-collar job is having to be around white-collar people all day.

I just think the reality of the current job market is rough for everyone, and the “lower middle class” almost struggles more than a working class individual might. Seemingly every entry-level job wants you to have years of experience, and too many mid-level jobs don’t want to pay for the people that actually do have experience. Competition is tough and applying for jobs once you have a college degree and some professional experience is such a far cry away from the days of mailing a resume that it becomes a full time job in and of itself.

By contrast, while “working class” low paying jobs are becoming harder to find, actually getting one isn’t that big of a deal. Work hard and have a decent attitude? Open to doing whatever work for mediocre pay? Here’s a job. Maybe I’m mischaracterizing it from lack of experience, but when I was a high school kid looking for work it wasn’t really all that difficult to find as long as I didn’t have some inflated sense of self worth.

I don’t think it’s fair to attack this person for finding some aspects of their job irritating and making a commentary on it. While she’s not out doing back breaking labor in the hot sun, her job isn’t exactly hyper stable and it was probably not particularly easy to get it in the first place.

TL;DR: Stop gatekeeping, working life is hard for basically anyone.

Tbh I get pissed off at the modern American liberal “left” for thinking they’re just as downtrodden and oppressed as the working class.

I’m not a fan of the line of thinking that leads to discrediting someone’s opinion just because someone else has it worse. There’s a very VERY fine line between giving someone perspective and just being a cunt.

I’m not trying to discredit her. It’s just funny she tries to play it that she’s a worker who needs sympathy to the far left who’s all about the lower class.

My point is just she shouldn’t have expected any sympathy from them.
