I’m still angry at Hankook for taking away the RS3.

It was a very good tire that cost $50 less per wheel than the other 200TW options. Now there’s the RS4, which I’ve heard isn’t as good as the other 200TW options and yet it now costs more than RE-71Rs, which in Mustang sizes are fuck-all expensive because TIRE MAKERS KNOW THAT PEOPLE IN EXPENSIVE CARS CAN SPEND MONEY AND IT’S ALL A GOD DAMN CONSPIRACY.

SERIOUSLY, HOW THE EFF IS A 285-35R19 LESS EXPENSIVE THAN A 275/35R19, AND WHY DOES A 275/35R19 COST $200 MORE THAN A 205/55R16 IT DOES NOT HAVE 3 TIMES THE AMOUNT OF RUBBER IN IT

*clears throat* I’m sorry. Tires piss me off and take all my money

I’m thinking about picking up a set next season for trackday tires, but I’d go with a 245/40/17 unless there’s a significant price difference (I’ve seen $20 per tire difference just from sidewall size changes).

I’ve been tracking on my Re71r’s but I’m on pace to use up 5 sets this season between trackdays and autox (really 4.5, since one set were used take-offs that I got cheap).

Thats just unlucky, in the sizes for the BRZ the RS4 is significantly cheaper than the RE71R.

Amen! Preach it brother!

(also kind of pissed off about tire prices and I haven’t bought RE71s yet.)

I’ll let you know how they do next weekend! I picked the 235 because I’m running an 8" wheel and the 245 would probably be too big and get too much sidewall flex. And I didn’t see a reason to justify the difference in price ~$8 per tire.

I’ve run 245's on 8" wheels with no problems, you get more flex from the extra sidewall (45 vs 40) than from the extra width on the 8" wheel.

255's are too wide for an 8" wheel and that’s when you start to notice the pinched tire.

Noticed today that the new ride has 265/50/20 Toyo Proxies on it.

Not looking forward to the bill when it comes time to shop for tires.
