Gave the 6 half a bath tonight.

Did a quick interior detail. The dirt and grass and crud all over the mats and carpet and the dusty dashboard had become too much for me. Way, way too much. The outside is still filthy - covered in bugs and gravel dust from my trip to my friend’s family farm in the middle of nowhere. But at least the interior is clean now.

Two years on (I got the car October 10, 2015), the interior remains a nice place to be. Materials have held up well and there are no errant worn-out spots or flimsy-feeling materials. No odd squeaks or rattles, either.

As you can see, my son’s huge car seat fits pretty well. This is part of what caused me to trade my old car (2008 Mazda3 hatch) for the 6. The rear air vents are helpful, too. Not sure why it took manufacturers so long to start including them.

Couldn’t resist a couple of exterior shots even though it is filthy. 20,600 miles now.

That’s a handsome interior. I’m starting to think about my next daily driver. Will probably be shopping in earnest about a year from now. A nice interior and four doors is a must. Do these come with a manual transmission? I would prefer it, but I won’t completely discount an automatic only car.

Yep. You can get a manual transmission in the base model trim (Sport) as well as the mid-level trim (Touring), which is what I have. Unfortunately, the top trim level (Grand Touring) is automatic-only.

my sister came home last weekend, washed her car in the driveway (2016 Civic) and I spent last night at her place in Brooklyn to go to a comedy show with her. Took her car home to go to work today and she parked it next to a tree and it’s filthy :(

Perfect. Adding Mazda 6 to my shopping list.

Meanwhile my mom’s 14 Fusion with 35,000 miles has already had the front seat covers replaced due to premature wear and trim has literally fallen off in her lap while driving. To be fair it’s was just a screw cover for the sun visor, but even the 94 Safari didn’t have random parts falling off inside.

/still should’ve gotten a 6 or Accord

Trim pieces falling off? Already? Ford really needs to work on their QC. Damn!
