My paranoia was not unfounded

Kinja'd!!!

I’ve always been worried that someone would slash my top to break into my car. And today some piece of scum did just that. Even though the passenger door was unlocked. I can tell they figured that out after the slashing because the door wasn’t closed the whole way. F$%king f$%k head didn’t steal anything, not even the spare change. I installed this top on my own just two summers ago.

having just replaced my top and being scared of parking my cheap but precious miata in even somewhat shady places I am always scared it will be manhandled like this. This scares the crap out of me.

dude that really sucks. I wish there was more I could say or do to ease the pain. At least repairing the tear wont be very noticeable? Or At least if you decide to replace the top again it will be much much easier and faster?

Well someone is a fuckin’ douche. Replace it with Kevlar, then it won’t get slashed!

It was a cheap top since I’m a college student and didn’t want to pay $600 for a nice one. It’s just such a pain to do. The appearance doesn’t bother me that much, it’s just the fact how new it is and that weather could become a factor.

That and I should leave a live cougar in the front seat.

Bear traps. Attach them to the underside of the top*.

*Not responsible for cleaning up the mess afterwards.

Thinking about getting a live cougar to keep in the front seat.

If I were you, I’d just sew it together and use water sealant boot/shoe stuff. Maybe some duct tape on the inside for good measure.

Sewing will be pretty handy in the Army. I’ve saved many pairs of ACU pants that way. Although idk if they’ll let officers get away with that shit.

A cougar in the passenger seat would come in handy.

I’ll be home this weekend for a wedding and my plan is basically what you mentioned. That will last long enough.

I’ve only got 2 pair of ACUs left that are not too dirty to wear. I need my OCPs to come in pronto.

What sort of car, and is it possible to repair this?

Long ago, someone broke into my then-girlfriend’s SVX. Took the sunshade and some CDs and missed the loaded 38 under the seat.

Yeah, I have stories.

Damm stealing CDs haha. 1994 Mazda miata hairdresser mobile. It’s fixable with duck tape for the time being.

In some way I’m going to devise a way to patch it. And the next time I’m home for a couple of days I’ll try to replace the whole top.

People are the worst.
Came back to my 306 with a slashed roof once, it was slashed twice, because the dumbass who did it probably didn’t get to the opener with the first cut.
Police asked me why I was reporting it, since I wasn’t insured for theft - Well thanks for nothing I guess.
I repaired it with patches glued from the inside with neoprene glue. Worked like a charm and was a tad more elegant than duct tape.
