Kinja'd!!!

And they actually made it modern with a lift up tailgate! See:

Kinja'd!!!

Its still a baby crossover based on a Fiesta. But anyway, heres the pricing breakdown.

S trims start at $20,990. The standard engine is a 1.0 turbo 4. There is a 2.0 4 option if you don’t want the 1.0. But adding it requires you get AWD along with a $1500 price increase. There really aren’t any options per se, but there are options. 5 total: a cargo management system, which is probably just a cargo area net for $110, front and rear mud flaps for $200, Ford’s dated keyless entry keypad for $110, remote start for $495 and and a spare tire carrier mounted on the rear liftgate(you know, if you want the appearance of being a real off roader) for $185. With all those options ticked, you’re at $23,590, or $22,090 with the base 1.0 engine and FWD. Not bad.

The SE trim starts at $23,900. At this trim you can get an SE Convenience package for $1795 that includes things like BLIS, Sync and ambient interior lighting. For whatever reason though, there is already a $500 discount on this package if you add it. There’s a cold weather package that adds heated seats and mirrors for $395. There is also a 17in black wheel option for $470. With the same options ticked from the base trim and including the 17 wheels and Convenience and cold weather packs your’re sitting at $28,475, $26,975 with the 1.0 and FWD.

There are 2 upper trims on the Ecosport. First off is Platinum of course. Starting at $26,735 it has more bright work than the other trims. It also comes with a premium audio system from Harmon. There really aren’t any other options other than the ones mentioned above. With those ticked $29,960 with the 2.0 and AWD, $28,460 with the 1.0 and FWD.

The top trim and second of the “premium” trims is a sporty trim called SES, which they are touting as “added adrenaline” (literally their words on the site).

Kinja'd!!!

It had black trim that goes well in the color above, called Canyon Ridge. It also comes with this trick orange trim on the seats:

Kinja'd!!!

and on the dash:

Kinja'd!!!

Kinda cheesey, but you know they are trying to target millennials. With all options boxes ticket, you are literally right under $30 grand. $29,515 to be exact. You can only get the 2.0 in this trim as well. Which means standard AWD. It should sell in the lucrative small crossover market. It also undercuts the competition price wise who all easily crest 30 grand with the options they have. The Ecosport arrives at dealers early in 18'.

The back is still a door, they just removed the spare for the US market ones:

Kinja'd!!!

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

It is still a tall and worse Fiesta that wasn’t ready to come out of South America yet. Also it seems really expensive, here in Chile a pre-facelift Titanium 2.0 AWD automatic is just under US$20.000, so either the USDM one has a lot of improvements or they are just hoping that it will sell at that price just because it’s an SUV.

It was a just a quick fix from them to jump in the game.

Not just American ones lost the spare - it’s a general thing:

Why is the public falling for this? How is it so easy to pocket an extra $4k from just adding body cladding and some longer springs to a $16k subcompact hatchback? On top of getting jipped, they just got a tall car with much worse fuel economy, braking distance, emergency maneuverability, and acceleration coupled with the same crappy ride quality.

It boggles my mind how so many people my age are buying these in droves.

No doubt it’ll sell like hot cakes, just look at the Trax.

I wonder if they’ll make an ST trim. Probably not, just like Subaru won’t make a WRX Crosstrek

I honestly dont get it and its frustrating as hell. I dont think people realize though what they are getting into. You’re paying for nothing more than a raised ride height but literally everything else is worse save for cargo capacity. And even then any gains are negligible.

There will conveniently be a $1k rebate and $1k in dealer discounting shortly after they start hitting the lots.

The SES is probably as close as you’ll get to an ST trim. But nothing sporty will come of this trust me. If Ford makes an ST Ecosport, Im going to need a Trax SS, a Mazdaspeed CX-3, an Encore GS and an HR-V Si.

I don’t care what all crossover haters say, I want the SES with the orange interior trim. Although a Fiesta with the same interior would be preferable…

This is very optimistic and seems to have room for incentives baked in from day 1. The price span mirrors the Crosstrek which is a much larger vehicle. Oh and the Ctosstrek is rated like 4 MPG better in both the city and highway.

And the Crosstrek isnt based on a subcompact and actually has decent interior room for what it is. This is just a raised rebodied Fiesta.

Stupidity, impulse buying and people not doing their research is why crossovers are selling. But oh no dont complain! Because then someone will come at you with the lame excuse of “well their sales help fund the development of the fun stuff.” Except thats not true. The fun stuff is all priced out of the majority of what people can afford so you have to pay to play for the most part. And what is in development is either more crossovers, EV’s, autonomous cars or some combination of the 3. So we will all end up loosing out. With the way things are going if Im still here in 2045 I dont think I will own a car.

Yeah I guess that’s what I meant by pointing out the Crosstrek is bigger... this is a subcompact priced like a compact. I mean it seems nice enough but the pricing doesn’t make any sense. It should be like $18-26k.

An EcoSport is a Fiesta in the same sense that an Explorer is a Taurus. Or that an Escape is a Focus. Or a Bronco II is a Ranger. Or a Mustang is a Falcon. Or an LS is a Mustang. Or an ATS is a Camaro. Or an SSR is a TrailBlazer. Or a PT Cruiser is a Neon.

That is to say, the EcoSport may have a lot in common with a Fiesta, but it is not a Fiesta, it’s an EcoSport.

The only thing that seems reasonably tempting about a crossover is the extra suspension travel for traversing potholes - road infrastructure isn’t improving anytime soon. That said, most crossovers now come with 19 or 20-inchers on rubber bands, which completely negates it. I’d go for an older luxury sedan with no sporting aspirations instead.

Youre talking platform. I wasn’t talking in the literal sense. But In this instance it’s a Fiesta in that there are no redeeming qualities about it that could warrant it being it’s own unique model.
