I love 20s and 30s automotive design. Just looks right.

I’ve wondered for quite a while what these are like to drive. The engine is behind the front wheels substantially, making it a true front-mid, and FMF at that. It’s longitudinal, which means there might be a little engine torque roll like a Toronado (particularly with the narrow tall frame). The spindle and CV technology of the day makes for a long arc kingpin center inside the center of track, too - so it would most likely aggressively recenter from a turn, particularly under throttle. Kind of like an ATV with a front diff.

Weirdly enough, the front suspension is DeDion, so in some respects it would be like driving a very, very light 4x4.

The L-29 in particular

I have heard they were nightmares to drive in the snow. No weight over the front end made it hard for the Cord to find grip.

I could probably set up a simulation of what a Cord was like by disconnecting the rear axles on my Rover and driving on front wheels only, but that seems like a lot of effort.

Especially considering how many projects you have on the burner

Apparently these were the days before everyone rotated tires at oil changes. There ain’t no tread left on the fronts!
