Kinja'd!!!

I decided to try out a muffler delete on my truck. It’s been a couple weeks now, and I am thoroughly happy with it. Cold starts in the parking garage at work are almost ridiculous, but once the truck warms up for a couple minutes, I can’t tell anything has changed unless I’m on the throttle. It’s kind of amazing actually. Best of both worlds.

I also decided to put a chrome tip on it, because why not. I don’t have a really good picture of it, but you can kind of see it here.

Since I had to trim the stock tip a little to make the aftermarket tip fit, the little cousin got an upgrade to his truck.

I was scared to do this for months, but I’m glad I did. It’s amazing how quiet an essentially straight piped modern truck it. Three cats and close to 20 feet of pipe will do that.

I’m wanting to do this to my S8. The exhaust makes it too quiet, but yeah, dragging my feet a bit, but maybe. Any droning in the cabin at cruise?

No droning when cruising. When I’m not accelerating, it’s just as silent as it was stock.

Side note, I tuned out the 4cyl mode on my truck. Stock there is a spring-loaded butterfly valve that opens and closes with exhaust pressure differences that removes the helicopter like noise that a larger displacement 4cyl would make with no muffler. I removed mine with the delete. If I still had 4cyl mode enabled, it supposedly would sound terrible and drone like crazy whenever it went down to 4cyl mode.

I kept my muffler just in case, but I don’t think I’ll be going back anytime soon.

That’s awesome. I was going to go with some electric cutouts, but I may just do it and cut the mufflers out and see how it goes. So tempting.

Sounds nice. I’ve been debating on doing this with the Crown Vic. Did you weld it yourself, or have a muffler shop do it?

I wanted a cutout too. I was in your position for what felt like forever. I just couldn’t do it. Glad I finally did. Good luck!

I took it to a muffler shop (Mad Hatter in Columbus, OH); in and out in 20 minutes for $50.
