Hello East Coast!

Currently in a coffe house in Binghamton, NY. I have the keys to a shitty rental Mitsubishi Mirage and a full tank of gas.

Headed over to NYC, is there anything interesing to see on my way there? A racetrack, or a car museum, or something local, like a cool store or something?

FUGGHETTABOOOUTIT!

If you have the time, take Rt 97 down. It winds along the Delaware river, and gets very curvy at the end which is known as Hawks Nest.

Will take you an extra ~45 min, but it should be quite empty today. Worth the drive, and its a nice day out.

From Binghamton, take 17 West to Hancock, then take Rt 97 South. From there 84 to 17 to the Thruway, GPS it depending on your location.

If you’re on a straight shot to NYC it looks like you’ll pass through Scranton, PA. The best thing to see there is the Olde Good Things warehouse - they’re the preeminent architectural salvage outfit in NYC, and the warehouse may as well be a museum if you’re into that kind of stuff. From what I recall, last I was there they had the original Eero Saarinen-designed TWA terminal chandeliers available for sale at $36,000 a piece. (Ironically I just told a Jalop editor this story yesterday.)

Good driving roads would take you east and tack on a good 1.5-2 hours to your drive. The Taconic State Parkway is one of the best scenic roads between the Blue Ridge and Bar Harbor. The “fun” roads are off of 9W which is on the other side of the river. I’m sure there’s some fun shoots on the Tac side as well, but don’t know ‘em off hand.

The drive on 97 from Binghamton toward the city is supposed to be good as well, but I’m super unfamiliar with it.

If you have time, check out Classic Car Club Manhattan off the West Side Highway. As of yesterday, they had an SLS Black, Veyron, P1 and LaFerrari (in addition to their usual Huracan, 458, and GT40).

They have a parking lot out front and are super friendly. Just tell them you’re visiting the city and we’re wondering if you could take a look at their collection. They’ve invited me in dozens of times.

Thanks for the tip, I took a part of it down like you said, but I got short on time and moved on to the highway for the second part. It was fun, even with my slow car!

Gold.
Thank you for the tips man, I will check out the club when I have time for sure! I took a part of the 97 down, but it was a bit crowded... Thanks again!
