The closest thing to the Miata of Germany would probably be the BMW Z3, but the 4-cylinder Z3s were pretty widely considered to be worse cars in many ways, than the Miatas that they were directly competing against. The 6-cylinder Z3s were another beast entirely.
Or you could go for a Boxster...

The BMW Z4. It basically followed the miatas rules with a cheap (LOL) fun to drive sports car that will also be safe and reliable at the same time

Honda Fit. - Mazda zoom zooming slick shifter and taut handling in a small, lightweight, FWD economy car. Just like the good little FWD Mazda cars like Mazda2, Mazda3, Protege, 323, MX3.
Nissan 370Z - Lowered weight and size from predecessor while complying with modern safety and emissions. Focused on weight savings over the 350Z including aluminum use everywhere on suspension and most body panels. Just like the NC to ND Miata.
