The evening of selling the mustang I went to the rich part of town and bought this for $1100: a 1980 Honda CX500. For those not familiar with motorcycles this is a water cooled 500cc V twin turned 90 degrees with a shaft drive to the rear wheels making around 50hp. It also shoots flames from the tailpipes and makes an AMAZING noise. Video coming later.

Is this in addition to the rebel? that engine looks pretty sweet.

I’ve always been so conflicted by these bikes, in stock form I think they’re some of the ugliest bikes ever made (JMO) but when customized they look amazing. I can’t decide whether I hate them or love them.

I saw one of these recently and the engine design really caught my eye. Definitely cool and unique looking.

I have same bike but with bags, flairing & windshield. 1982 Silverwing GL500. For a 35 year old bike it scoots.
Although I think the brake fluid is starting to leak around the O-ring under the reservoir. Just ordered a new reservoir today.
I love it. For a medium bike it’s perfect.

Nice. I’ve been eyeing some old BMWs since I got my endorsement.

Nice! I recently found a 71 Cb715 project for 400 bucks. But the Galant needs a clutch so there goes my fun money.

Yeah, this might not be a “fast bike” but compared to the cars I’ve had it hauls some serious ass and makes a great racket while doing it

I’ll be keeping this one pretty much stock. I am such a sucker for unusual engine layouts though.

Saw a SilverWing at a bike week earlier this month. Was disappointed it didn’t have a speedometer, I was curious how many miles were on it.
