Kinja'd!!!

1972 Buick Sun Coupe for $6000, claimed to run and drive well. Only a few thousand of these were made, the option package centers around a folding vinyl sunroof. If it’s as decent condition as it’s presented it looks like a very NP.

Here’s a better picture of that roof:

Very cool! I hope whoever buys it doesn’t put an LS in it and 20 inch wheels on it. Or make it a “tribute” GSX.

Does it always need to be displayed at car shows with the roof half open, like a Fairlane 500 Skyliner?

(I actually saw a Skyliner at a car show a couple weeks ago with the top closed. I figured it must have been broken.)

Does it also say “I don’t know what I have” and “lowballers welcome”?

No, but I’d upgrade that 2 barrel and call it a day.

Wow, looks like a NP, too!

That’s what I did with my Lemans. All stock except for a factory Quadrajet and matching factory intake to replace the 2 barrel.

Nice! Is it a ‘68-72, too?

Yes it is. I’ve owned it for 30 years. It’s my first car, bought it when I was 17.

Awesome! My 1st car was also an A-body, bought 33 years ago. It was a bit older - ‘65 Cutlass. And I only *wish* that I had kept it!!

Gorgeous! A convertible, too - my 2nd car was a ‘65 Skylark ‘vert in a pretty similar color scheme (Verde Green/white/tan). Love the color combo—

The original color was a light metallic green color. When I got it, it was an awful maaco red. I had it painted in ‘96 in mystic teal, a camaro/trans am color. It’s chameleon paint. Kinda wish I’d gone with a single color paint, this stuff is nearly impossible to touch up. But for a 21 year old paint job, it’s held up pretty good.

Yea, I’d go electronic ignition, and either 4bbl carb, or maybe even aftermarket fuel injection (if they make it for the Buick engines).

Otherwise, just replace worn parts.

Ok, and mayyyyybe dual electric fans for better cooling for that Power Tour drive. And a better stereo.

But other than that - stock!

Eh, my points have lasted 10's of thousands of miles. I just set the dwell and check the plugs every 6 months. Good factory heavy duty clutch fan and shroud are super simple and last a long time. They still use those on heavy duty trucks today. Keep in mind, that ‘72 has about 8:1 compression, so it will run all day on 87 octane with no detonation, and as long as you have an efficient new radiator, or a re-cored stocker with four rows, it will never over heat, even with A/C. I’ll give you the better stereo though. Three speaker AM/FM is pretty lame. Now, if you rebuild the engine and go 10:1 compression, I would add aluminum heads and intake. But even then, just duplicate the cooling system they had in the stage 1 GS 455 and you would be fine with that 350.
