Ten is usually a good round number to use for public remembrance of a passing. Birthdays are hopefully celebrated every year by Adam Corolla by thrashing some of his race cars around a track.

Great actor, racer and humanitarian.
Good story for you. There was an SCCA corner worker frequently at Mid-Ohio named Tom who I knew back in those racing days. On one occasion a Newman-Haas driver was in an accident at the track. He was on fire from a fuel type that didn’t produce easily seen flames so nobody was rushing to his aid. Tom saw the heat waves in the air and jumped over a guard rail with an extinguisher in hand to put out the flames. Paul saw this and made his way immediately to Tom, removed his hat, autographed it and handed it to Tom with a thanks for his effort. The reason all this is important is that Paul Newman seldom gave autographs. Tom was a somewhat overweight guy who had just sprinted hundreds of feet , extinguisher in tow and vaulted a high guard rail to put out a man of fire. I wished I’d been there that day to witness it.
