I saw an Alfasud a few weeks ago. It was the first one I’ve seen in a very long time. I believe it had 1982 plates. Anyway, the most remarkable thing about it was that there were 4 guys inside and it was towing a trailer.

Yes, it was towing a trailer. The Alfa wanted to merge onto the street I was driving on, I didn’t get a proper look at the car. It looked like a ‘decent old car’, not a rotting corpse and not a garage queen.

Unless you live in a desert or keep it in a sealed environment I’m afraid the Sud is incompatible with life.

Never sold new in NA, but we did get the Alfetta in the late 70s, unicorns now.

lucky in some respects due to their ability to rust away, would’ve been lucky to see out 2 or 3 winters in the snowy areas

A good reason to keep it away from this continent, along with the invisible dealer and service network, and neglectful habits of many drivers.

Funny thing, we actually got the Lancia Beta at that time, too. It’s like Europe was competing with the US for malaise issues.
