It’s description was pretty much empty, and it cost half as much as every other one, but it was on Amazon. It came in today, and it looks brand new. Not a scratch or mark on it. I’ve only taken a couple of pics through it, but I think it is significantly better than the basic Canon one.

I need to play with it a bit more, but so far it seems like a decent purchase. It’s a Tamron 18-270 1:3.5-6.3.

You should check out B&H Photo and video for used lenses. You’re not likely to be blown away by their prices but you can be sure they stand behind the condition. I find the prices fair though.

I have that very lens. It’s a great walking around lens, as it gives you both tons of reach and close up shots without having to swap the glass. I eventually replaced it with a Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 because I needed something faster at long distances. But that’s a solid lens for the money. Have fun.

I’ve had good luck with KEH as well. Never bought from Adorama.

I have a fine, but not great, Canon long distance lens that works alright for that purpose. I just wanted a better walking around lens, so this should fulfill that need.

My main hobby, when I have the time, is aviation photograph, and the 18-270 just wasn’t giving me the sharpness I needed at long range. With the APSC sensor, the 70-200 effectively becomes a 112-320. And I used to take lots of photos at my boys’ school, and I needed the 2.8 speed at distance. It’s an expensive workaround, though. Now my son uses the 18-270 when we’re on vacation. It’s perfect for him.
