Hot take for the day: Soul Red is boring and Mazdas colors pallet is keeping me from considering a Miata.

Give me an actual red, not an “eh it’s kind of red”. I just saw a Camry with a more red-red. Is it a pretty red? Yes. Should they also have a brighter red? Yes. And a blue. Give me a blue ND. I want a color that stands out.

I really like Soul Red, but the fact that it’s the only non-boring color is... stupid. The really idiotic thing is that there’s a really nice blue, that looks awfully similar to what a metallic version of Mariner Blue would be, on the Miata’s production line. Literally, cars on the same line as the Miata get sprayed in it, so they could easily spray Miatas in it.

Say hello to Dynamic Blue:

Soul Red looks fantastic. But yeah, the rest of their color pallet is bland as can be right now.

I think it looks amazing as is, but yes in indirect sunlight or overcast it loses its shine. But so does rosso fuoco.

Someone else even said they have a pretty blue that they use on the same assembly line. They’re just being lazy and lame.

fair statement, (though I do really like that red.) It’s not that different than in the past, other than it seems like they changed up the “one exciting color” more frequently, (they had a nice orange, that nice pearl yellow on some older 3s, etc.) But it must be more effective that way from an overall marketing standpoint. One flashy color to draw buyers who end up wanting a “compromise color” when they get to the dealership. Subaru, Honda and Toyota seem to do the same thing.

When I saw it in pictures I assumed people were just milking the color because it was Mazda, but then I saw it in person... And that theory was confirmed. It’s just another boring dark red that would look at home on a Camry.

Although I think Soul Red looks awesome, I want a pearl blue. Mazda could easily just put the Cx-3's available bright blue on the Miata. I dont get it. That color and the 1.5 engine would make me buy one today.

As much as I would never buy FCA products, their color ranges are jaw dropping. COnfigure a 1500 RAM. Look at the color options. Now, maybe this is why FCA loses money buuuuuuut.....I can have a pickup in one of two dozen colors.

That is pretty much the ideal everyone should offer on their cars. Unfortunately, FCA only offers it on the 1500, because a lot of them are fleet colors for major corporate and government buyers. The range on other models like the Challenger and 300 is pretty poor.

I quite agree. They need to bring back the green from the nineties, maybe the orange from the Mazdaspeed, the yellow from the NC, the bright blue from the CX-3, etc.

Dodge Challengers, Ford Focus, Mustang, Toyobarus to start with can all be had in more then one non-grayscale color.
