It’s week three of the NFL season, and I’m a happy camper. The weather has FINALLY shifted to fall. I hate hot weather and I’m glad the 80- and 90-degree temps have packed it in.
Today on CBS, our slate is the Broncos at Bills (natch) in the early game, and in the late game they gave us Chiefs at Chargers. The Chiefs are tough but I never have any preconceived notions about division games no matter how bad the other team may be. Maybe LA will do us a favor. Probably not though. I’m guessing the Chiefs win. Over on Fox, we don’t get an early NFL game, but we do get another LA-KC game (MLS). In the late game we get the Seahawks at the Titans because that’s it for FOX. That’s all you get! READ A BOOK! (No one’s going to get that reference, Bob.) I’ll say Titans because they have a better offense at the moment. Then later we get Oakland at Washington on Sunday Night Football, of which I will miss at least an hour of so that I can see if the new Star Trek series is worth my attention. Hey, it’s probably better than Enterprise, amirite? I think Raiders take it. And on Monday Night Football, no one cares. I’ll take Dallas though because the Cards are soooooo bad.
Also, I forgot that there’s a game going on in London right now between the Jags and the Ravens. I’ll admit my pick on it was the Ravens, though the Jags have a 13-0 lead after a 45-yard field goal in the 2nd quarter. (The Ravens offense looks terrible, or the Jags defense is for real. Take your pick.)
I don’t have a lot to say about the Broncos-Bills matchup except that these are the kinds of games they have to win if they want to have a chance at postseason success. It’s a game involving a long flight, an early start, the opposing team isn’t really that good but they’re not terrible either, and it’s coming after a blowout win. It could be a letdown game but I don’t think it will be. I’m going to say they come away with the win.
For the rest, let’s see: I’ll take Panthers at home over the Saints, Chicago upsetting the Steelers, Lions over Falcons, Browns over the Colts, Bucs beat the Vikings, Patriots over the Texans (though I’d really love being wrong), Dolphins over Jets, Giants stealing a win over the Eagles, and Green Bay pounding the Bengals.
So, let’s talk! Come on in, let’s insult each other’s teams, drink to our teams’ success or because of their failures, and have a good time.

I’ve thought long and hard about this subject, considering both sides of the arguments and the different political perspectives. My answer, void of emotion, is this:
If a person wants to exercise their First Amendment right to freedom of speech by peacefully protesting a wrong, either real or perceived, I’m perfectly fine with it. There will be repercussions to all players who either kneel or stand during the national anthem, and everyone on the field must understand that. They are just as free to kneel as I am free to stand. No hard feelings either way.
Except for the Patriots. Fuck those guys.

Belichik will focus on blitzing through our o-line, double coverage on Hopkins, keeping a LB free to follow Watson for QB runs, double teaming Watt and Clowney, and further exposing our weak ass secondary. The Texans have one hell of a fight on their hands, and I’m not sure that copying the Chiefs’ game plan they used against the Pats will yield results.
I’m hopeful, but not expecting, a W for the Texans.

Last year against the Pats, the Broncos’ biggest problem was that the o-line was so bad that Trevor didn’t have time to throw AND the running game couldn’t get going. The Broncos’ D held the Patriots to 16 points. You should always win against the Pats if you hold them to 16 points, FFS.
If the Texans o-line can’t protect the QB or open up running lanes, it’ll be a domino effect. Here’s hoping they can pull it off.

Our offense will have to use WRs not named Hopkins effectively. Also, our 3rd String RB (D’onte Forman, last year’s top college RB) is fantastic at getting yards after contact. We should probably use him a lot today, but we probably won’t.

First off, Emmanuel Sanders made a catch. By every measure of the rule it was a catch. For the officials to overturn it, that was utterly ridiculous. Second, the flag on Von was bullshit.

I was at a theme park all day, and did not watch the game. My wife checked the score with ~5 minutes left. 30-28 Texans. I actually said “great, another win.” I know how the Texans do in Foxboro.
