What would make a 4L60E only operate in reverse? I just had to tow a truck like this one to the mechanic. Curious as to what the issue might be.

Kinja'd!!!

**Insert rant while I’m at it: Naturally the owner of the truck kept his brakes on the entire way... yeah I get “taking up the slack” but (a) you don’t need that under acceleration, (b) you only need mild brakes while trying to maintain speed and (c) this guy treats both pedals like a switch. So the brakes were on good and proper. My truck is rated to tow 6,000lbs... I don’t know what 5,000lbs of truck, toolbox and driver + heavy brakes equates to but it felt like a lot.**

So what caused this?

No forward motion at all? Not even in manual 1 or 2?

Maybe input sprag or drum.

Could be something as simple as a solenoid in the valve body.

Would that cut off all forward gears? I thought generally you could get at least one working. That isn’t the case here.

Granted I don’t have a ton of knowledge about it, that’s why I’m asking oppo.

If no pressure is making it’s way to a clutch pack to engage a gear, it’s a possibility. Though given this...

Given the fact that this guy has a really jerky driving style (like I said pedal=switch etc) I would not be surprised to see hard damage rather than leaking seals.

I’d almost expect it.
