First championship done, which means I can finally ditch these hilariously awful Formula 1600 cars.

Kinja'd!!!

Although they did provide their brief moments of comedy towards the latter end of the championship.

Kinja'd!!!

Now off to the GT ladder.

How is the handling when using a gamepad? I managed to fix the terrible handling in PC1 with my pad by adjusting the car settings, but jesus, was it irritating. Did they improve on that?

Leaps and bounds improved. Nowhere near as twitchy once you get trigger discipline. It’s about as easy as forza 6

I returned project cars after 3 days. Easily the worst game I thought I would ever like. Apparently it got better?

A lot better, although I did sink hundreds of hours into the first game as well. This sequel could very well be one of the best games this year.

that’s good to hear, even though I have a steering wheel it just feels like such a chore having to keep setting it up every time so normally end up using a controller lol

Do you have Assetto Corsa? If so, how does the handling in PCars2 compare to AC?

When I bought AC I uninstalled PCars because the handling was so much better and so much more fun that it ruined PCars for me.

I do and the verdict remains the same: AC is the better driving simulator at its core, but as a complete package PC2 is without a doubt the better ‘game’. The tires are much improved over the first game, which fixes the majority of the handling issues people have at the limit of slip. Can’t argue with the fantastic roster of vanilla content this time around and online is already off to an amazing start.

As for improving on other already developed features like weather: Live Track 3.0 goes a step beyond even what FM7 is bringing to the table, as does their time of day lighting engine.

I did love the completeness of the “game” part of PCars. And there was a lot of selection of tracks especially once all the DLC was purchased. But I never really utilized it. I usually have time for a few hot laps. And so I’m more or less after the “funness” of the driving experience. I didn’t have fun with the original because I felt like I couldn’t properly control the cars, even with my wheel.

I will probably check out PCars2 after it goes on sale. But AC scratches my racing sim itch in a magnificent way.

I’ve never messed with one in a simulator, but in real like Formula Fords are by far the most fun thing I’ve ever driven around a racetrack. There is something very visceral about watching your tires wear through each corner, and the lack of wings allows them to race very, very closely.
