Kinja'd!!!

I think I finally figured out how I can satisfy my desire for sticker-bombing, while at the same time keeping my car *relatively* clean and non-ricer. Oh and bonus harness pics! Squeeeee!

Okay. The bar in the back will have my favorite places, like Mt. Rainier National Park. Middle three bars will be from manufacturers/suppliers/designers I’ve used like 949 Racing, Fujitsubo, Schroth, etc. The bar closest to the soft top will be for as many “+5 hp” stickers as I can fit (the hp boost effect stacks, yo).

Bonus harness test fitting for those of you who made it this far. I freakin’ love these belts. 4-point schroth profi-II FE asm, upgradeable to 6 point. DOT legal, and one of the few (maybe the only..?) 4-points accepted by major racing bodies. This will be used for street, offroad, track, rallyx, etc. Basically.... Everything. Before you say anything, I’d MUCH rather use this harness—yes, even without a helmet—on the street than the old stock belts with a rollbar, race seats and no airbags. Anyways... Pictures!

my wife is firm in her opinion that sticker bombing a car is never classy. I can’t say I agree but I do generally find that to be true. On the other side of the coin, I really dig the idea of collection badges of accomplishment as is the trend in overlanding (and before that just road tripping)

I do, normally a big tent, oil and coolant. But the tent bag is soft.... We’ll see what happens

I’m right there with you. I like seeing the park stickers. I had a few on my lower windshield that I removed, but I feel like this is something I can live with. Plus, I never liked the silver luggage rack, since it doesn’t match my “polished Gunmetal” wheels or dark grey metallic flake rollbar. Too many different silvers...

Just because it’s not classy, doesn’t mean it can’t be awesome!

-A completely unclassy person.

I say yes, stickerbomb something that can be either removed or passed on if anything happens. I had a friend run a strip of black vinyl across the hardtop window to act as a minor sun shade and as a canvas for sticker bombs. It needs more stickers but I’ll only do relevant companies and places it’s actually been. That said, I need to get a TotD sticker since I forgot to get one years ago when I went there with Desu-san-Desu and Rainbow.

This reminds me of my previous Miata, which I didn’t want to cover with hard-to-remove stickers that could damage the paint. My alternative, then, was to put the stickers on the back of the roll bar, so that they would be hidden when I put the top up and exposed with the top down. After all, peopke already could see that my car was modified from stock thanks to that thick black pipe next to my head, so putting stickers on the one part of the car that already drew most of the attention just made some sort of sense.

I’ve placed dozens and dozens of decals on the *in* sides of trunk lids.

I still think some picky racing groups will say no to a 4 point, regardless of the certs it has. Stupid, but some techs are on a power trip lol. Nice setup though, I love my Schroth 6 point Clubman so far, very nice materials for their “budget” harness.

Probably. The lap belts are bolted in for both seats, but on the driver’s side there will be sub straps that clip in to proper underseat mounting locations so I can convert to 6-point use in a couple seconds! From my (limited) experience it seems that Schroth can do no wrong. I walked in to the local race shop ready to take the hit to my wallet and what do you know.... They had the exact belts I was looking for on clearance because someone returned them after deciding on another color. Nice

Still need rollbar padding, and I’m debating a fire extinguisher. Realistically I’d be more likely to use it while camping... Which isn’t bad I guess.

Hey that just means you have plenty of time to plan what’s next for the car!
