Today marks my last week at Jaguar Land Rover so I decided to arrange a special treat for everyone in the office. Some homologation rally cars! My buddy even let me drive the Sport Quattro across town to the office!

Fantastic! Congrats on the new gig - would be awesome to be on one of Musk’s teams.

It’s gonna be a riot building the user experience for an entirely new form of transportation!

(soft & calming woman’s voice)

As you’re aware, now that you’re seated and the shuttle is in motion, you will not be able to use the restroom for the 57 minutes. If you are physically unable to prevent that from happening before we reach our destination, we have place an adult-sized high-capacity disposable undergarment in the pocket below your seat...”

Have fun! =) Seriously, though. I’m jealous. Did you study UX in school?

I went to school for Computer Science and did UX work through industry working on programs for ARMY Aviation, NASA, Virgin Galactic, and Jaguar Land Rover among others. ( https://www.linkedin.com/in/benellispdx/ )

But creating experiences is my true calling.

Nice. I started in civil engineering, ended up with BFA in graphic design and have gone back for some postgraduate GIS work. Working with software has always come very naturally to me, and I know what’s good, what sucks and how it could be improved (both visually and functionally). I think I could really do well helping out software companies on the UI and UX side, but I don’t know how I’d ever make that transition. Definitely on the list as a second career path.
