I don’t care if it’s a Mitsubishi or a Mercedes, I gotta have an Evo at some point in my life. That is all.

the mitsubishi is at least in reasonable money range.
last time I checked 190E Evo’s were between $150-$200k

Painful. The world would be better off with more of these magnificent beasts terrorizing the countryside.
Is there a “base” version you could start with and then build up à la 3-series converted to an M car?

there’s the less rare 190E 2.3 and 2.5 Cosworth’s that the Evo’s were based on. You still get the better part of 190-200hp and a dogleg gearbox.
They’re still pretty rare, but not homologation rare. I haven’t seen one for sale in years, but the last one I saw was something like $15k in rough condition.

The MB will require less vape pen expenses, but more maintenance, so it might be a wash. I have to believe/hope the lead pic isn’t a real EVO, but at best a 2.x-16 car with lots of accessories. 20K these days should buy a fairly immaculate 2.3-16.

Just a render! Well... Adding to the ever growing list of potential project cars. Then again I’d have mixed feelings about building a replica. For kicks I searched “Mercedes cosworth” on Craigslist. What do you think? Best in show material? (this was the only result)

Be leery of projects when it comes to these cars - they can become money pits. Unless one is very handy and/or has time on their hands, it is generally advised to buy the best you can afford, the cheapest MB is often the most expensive. And if possible, get a good PPI to know what you are getting into.
That somewhat dazzle camo W124 has been on CL for months, I think. I suspect it has as much Cosworth content as one of my pinkie fingers. But if you want lots of brash for the cash, it might be a deal. The Evo cars were never offically sold here, and are 6 figures now - out of my league anyway. Search for 2.3-16 or 2.5-16, should bring up a result now and then, they are out there. They are neat cars, a cheaper alternative to an E30 M3.

You should pick up a Pajero Evolution - by the time it’s importable for you, you ought to have enough saved up.

I would pick a pajero Evo over the other two, assuming I still have my Miata
