Something which is so mind-bogglingly juvenile and bereft of merit of its own that it takes on a meaning from that and repetition. The craft and difficulty of creating a Dick Butt image is out of all proportion with any intrinsic merit - the artist stands back, and a perfect marble turd is revealed.

It’s equal parts the image form of leaving a flaming bag on the doorstep, a “Kilroy was here” uniting on something almost meaningless, and a mere dick joke on official stationary.

I can explain it to you in broad strokes, but that only goes so far.

It’s a juvenile thing that some people find funny for being juvenile (and how!), some people find funny for deliberate elevation above its station or how it’s used, and some people find funny for both, or just funny in general.

I can explain the ways it’s funny and things that make it funnier, but the why...? Anti-humor or metahumor is always a taste with some limits on appeal.
