Kinja'd!!!

So, this person is a proud native Texan, yet has since voluntarily chosen to leave the state and now lives in Washington... Is that what pride is? Not wanting to live where you’re from?

Or do they just want us to know that the hospital they happened to be born at was somewhere in the state of Texas, in case someone wanted to create a Wikipedia page for them?

Not pictured: at the same red light, a New Beetle with one of these:

Have you ever met a Newfie? Most left because they couldn’t find work, but ask any of them if they’d move home and they’d say they’d move in a heartbeat.

not that strange IMO. there are a lot of factors that go into one’s current place of residence, yet they don’t change where you’re from.

You can take an asshole outta Texas, but you can’t take it out of a Texan.

Many of us native Texans leave the state in order to better the rest of the world. I left to teach in an economically depressed state, then left there to help with recovery efforts after Katrina.

My kids are the really brave ones. On jersey day, when all of the other kids were wearing jersies from LSU or the Saints, our kids went against the trend and wore jersies from our home state. They got in trouble. We had to have a little talk with the principle about forcing our kids to support local teams instead of letting them support the team they wanted to support. Although it was a sea of purple, yellow, gold and black on the next jersey day, there were splashes of other colors worn by other brave out-of-state transplants seen here and there. I was really proud of my kids for leading the way.

It’s important for many people to remember where they are from. It’s important for a few of them to make sure everybody else knows where they’re from. Humans are very fucked up animals.

Good answer and good on your kids. We get a lot more provincialism here than I’d like.

It’s like Sean Connery. He’s such a proud Scotsman and wanted Scotland to be independent, but he couldn’t vote in the Scottish Referendum, because he doesn’t live there and hasn’t for many years.

I’m okay with people being proud about where they’re from as long as they don’t whine all the time about where they are now. Lol.

Any sort of evidence of being Californian in Oregon and Washington is akin to painting a target on your back.

I saw someone in Phoenix with one of those stupid Colorado native stickers and AZ plates. I thought about dragging them out of their car and back to Colorado.

I’d prefer people to move if they don’t like the place instead of staying and bitching to everyone. Sooo many people in California bitch about the state, but... I’m pretty sure no one is forcing them to stay.

I know California isn’t perfect, but you’re free to leave.

Also, not everything is Jerry Brown’s fault, thank you very much!

But isn’t Oregon the hallucinogen capital of the US (maybe vying with NM or AZ for that spot)? I figure that’s to make it bearable to live there.

Have you ever noticed that images & statues of fly agaric mushrooms are everywhere there, much like WA loves their cannabis images?

Ye’, I don’t mind them saying ‘I love where I’m from’, it’s when they say, ‘I hate where I’ve moved to’.

I’m like, well f*** off them!

I’m a Carlislean and a Cummerlan. People live but some don’t like my city or county. I take um-bridge because I’m from here, I’m allowed not to like it from time to time, they don’t like it, well they moved here, shut up or f*** off.

I mostly get native Californians bitching about the state, which just drives me nuts. CA isn’t perfect, but it’s a hell of a lot better than any other state. It’s expensive for a reason: it’s god damn beautiful and it’s own country in essence.

And I like Governor Moonbeam lol.

Cumbria is so cheap to live in, the ‘cost of living’ is much lower than most of England. We have only five big towns (one a city) in the whole county. Population of the entire county is half a million. So people come here because it’s so quiet, rural and cheap then complain that there’s nothing to do without getting a train to Newcastle 50 miles east, Glasgow 50 miles north, etc... from Carlisle.

We’re one of the largest and least populated counties.

That sucks that 500k is small. But then again, my county has 850k, but it’s not equally spread out between the cities. The city I work in is smaller, but still only has 67k people. My town is slightly bigger, but still only has 100k people. It’s the town between my work city and home city that’s impacted with 200k+ while being the same size as my town, and you can feel it because you can’t move anywhere in that town. And they keep building...

We’ve got pretty much everything we want and everything we need though (stupidly we have about 13 large supermarkets), anything else is only an internet click away.

My city is the largest with 100,000.

It’s a strange place. When your here, you want to be away. When you move away, there’s a draw to bring you back.

Something about Californians driving up the cost of housing in Oregon/Washington because it’s cheap by California standards, thus making it an enticing place for Californians to escape the sun and beautiful weather their own over-inflated housing market.

That would make sense, especially since we’ve decriminalized hard drugs. I’ve personally never even smoked the devil’s lettuce, as I work in aircraft maintenance... drugs and the guy fixing your plane don’t mix. Maybe my sobriety is why I don’t much care for life here...

I have no idea what you’re talking about, I thought it was reasonable to pay $1900 for a one bedroom “apartment” in a normal city that isn’t LA, San Diego, or SF.
