Kinja'd!!!

Trying to replace the waterpump on my Yukon and the fan is being a pain in the ass.

Surprise it with a bfh method was not working. Just went and got a spanner but need an extra hand, so I’m waiting for a friend to come over and help

Also, discovered why AC may not be working.

Kinja'd!!!

The belt is gone!

every used car has been surprised with a bfh at one point or another. It’s no longer a surprise.

Try surprising it with two BFHs!

Also, are you turning the wrench in the correct direction, some are left hand threads. Not sure if that applies here, but worth a check.

They’re RH threads in this application.

I couldn’t believe how easily mine came off when I did the water pump last month.... But when I saw that the kaput pump couldn’t have been more than a year old I realized why. Removing the fan is really the only semi-difficult part of changing a water pump on these things, though.

Yep. Made sure to find out beforehand.

In doing my research before attempting this, every video or tutorial mentioned how difficult this can be, but then it ended up coming off super easy for them, lol.

Having had a timing belt die on me on the interstate, I think we just have to call them up and say things like “why are you making this look easier than I really think it will be given the equipment I’ve got here”
