Squeak creak squeak...

I purchased a new Q50 not long ago and it just recently developed a squeak.

It doesn’t happen all the time, but it is more frequent when it’s hot out and it happens over big bumps, around tight turns, and when I accelerate hard.

Little bastard is coming from right here:

Kinja'd!!!

Part of me says to just live with it, but that’s probably because I’ve always had cars that were older than 10 years. Another part of me is saying to bring this squeaky bastard into the dealer.

Now if only I had time to go to the dealership...

Don’t worry, when you finally make that appointment and bring it in, the sound will be gone. No one there will believe you.

Made the appointment. Realized I can just work remote at the dealer. They have a surprisingly nice space for people waiting.

But yeah, that’s exactly what I figure will happen! lol

I keep having to resist the urge to tear the interior apart myself - now that I know where it is coming from. Kept thinking: if I just pull up this piece, I can see if it is seating right and maybe add some felt on this and... but my GF snapped me back to reality. Going to bring it in and relax and work remotely while they fiddle with it.

This is exactly what happens every time I bring a car in... That or they grasp at straws and replace random shit because they have no clue. They also claim stuff that is obviously there isn’t there.

I kind of hate dealer service departments.

Squeaks when hot is weird.

Plastic expands in the heat and that should mitigate squeaks.

No what will happen is they fix that and then create 3 new noises elsewhere.

Good point. Hopefully it’s easy for them to remedy

The thought has crossed my mind actually. Ha

This is a huge reason that I now wait until a problem is consistent and obvious before I bring it in. Otherwise, they may mess with stuff that will cause another problem. With my wheel bearing issue, the tech made an appointment to come on a ride with me once I was sure the noise was there. I took him out under the exact conditions where I experienced it most, and he immediately understood.

Get some WD Silicon Lubricant spray. Squirt a little in the joint, wipe up the excess.

My first Mustang developed a horrendous squeak around the central air vents. Used some of the WD silicon lube and it never made a noise again.

I’d think something was wrong if my car *stopped* squeaking lol

I’ll let the dealer take a wack at it this week to see if they can fix it. It’s not at the joint unfortunately, but I’ll let them try first.

Ha! That’s how my old car was. Whenever something went away, I knew something must have gone awry.

I had squeaks that were seasonal, but that was partially due to the bushings. Squeak, bang, creaky suspension in the winter, and fuel pump humming in the summer.

Might be the ashtray lid and the surround, once heated up, expands and squeaks? Does it go away if you open the cover? If so some felt or sandpaper would likely cure the issue.

It seems to be occurring between the center console above the shifter and the lining of the ashtray. If the dealer can’t figure it out this week then I’ll start going at it with the felt and sandpaper.

Yup I’ve got suspension bushings I know need doing. They squeak but don’t clunk yet. The interior is 13 year old nissan plastic which there is no good cure for that I want to spend time finding.I just turn up the radio a bit :)

I have big sheets of self adhesive black felt that I’ve used all over my center consoles between my seats because my fat ass spreads the bolsters enough to make them squeak between the leather and plastic.
