After a very long hiatus, C&C returns. Somewhere around 800 cars in total, including two Veyrons, two Huayra’s, two 918's, a P1, and a pink Porsche.

Nice pics! I’m really mad I didn’t check out that Miura up close, I thought it was the mint one that’s usually there...

New Canaan, CT. They usually host 3-4 events per year, but went on hiatus after last season. Hopefully there will be another sometime in October.

I hear you. From a distance, it looks normal, and I almost didn’t take a closer look until the announcer mentioned it was a barn find.

I believe the mystery Aston is a DB3.

New Canaan huh, these all qualify as beaters there, right? :)

Crazy… there was a 911R at the local C&C that was that color combo too. I didn’t take any pics because iPhone 4 and I have a tendency to not even pull out my phone.

Aston Martin DB2/4 Mark III (aka DB3) circa 1958-9.

The link below has some fantastic history on the mark.

Awesome! Thanks!

I always feel guilty whenever I encounter a vintage car I don’t know anything about, but can just tell that it’s mega significant/expensive. Same with the Bugatti, which is apparently a Type-35.

The Bugatti, Zonda and Spyker do nothing for me.

The classic cars have beauty, elegance and a history.

There are always going to be cars you’ve never heard of though.

I’d like to think I’ve seen or heard of most TVRs, Jensens, Ginettas, Austins, Austin Healeys, MGs. Morris’, Morgans, Rileys, Rolls Royces, Rochdales, AECs, Arnolts, Bristols, BMCs, etc...

Then I come across this 1956 Jensen 541 Coupe.

http://www.houtkamp.nl/0-expected-soon-1980-jensen-541-coupe/

1980 JENSEN 541 COUPÉ

In production for three years, just 193 are thought to have been made Desirable upgraded to Deluxe specification The engine, gearbox, major units and suspension were all overhauled and bills for a significant parts’ value accompany the car The Jensen story is fascinating and as fifties GTs continue to return to favour

Although Jensen of West Bromwich espoused American Ford V8 and Nash engines in pre-war days, during the 1950s the company was closely associated with Austin. An outstanding though much under-rated Grand Tourer, the Jensen 541 embodied the Jensen brothers’ traditional virtues of a big engine and high overall gearing in a smaller, sportier package than the Interceptor saloon’s.

The 541 deployed the latter’s 4.0-litre Austin engine in a shorter, ladder-frame chassis, designed by John Riekie, which nevertheless contrived to offer significantly greater rear seat room than most of its rivals, while Eric Neale (previously with Daimler) laid out the new aerodynamic body.

Introduced at the 1953 Motor Show, the 541 pioneered the use of glassfibre bodywork and, like the Interceptor, used Austin A70-based suspension and transmission components but followed Jensen’s own steering geometry, rack-and-pinion steering a later introduction. And if the four-speed gearbox was not the 541’s strongest point, it mattered little, as the car could be left in top gear virtually all day, such was the torque of the Austin six.

Despite being capable of 115 mph, the 541 possessed such a favourable power-to-weight ratio that this performance came with relatively modest fuel consumption.

When they were first launched they had the same effect on a car-starved public as the Bugatti Veyron did fifty years later.

Only in production for three years, just 193 are thought to have been made.

ABOUT THIS SPECIFIC EXAMPLE

This beautiful Jensen is a restored Jensen 541 carefully hand built in West Bromwich in 1956 over sixty years ago.

An example desirable upgraded to Deluxe specification when restored in the 80s using 541R disc brakes.

The brakes are recently upgraded with Volvo 4 pot callipers to front.

The restoration appears to have been comprehensive, the engine has been rebuilt, the gearbox and the overdrive have been overhauled in the late 90s, the front suspension have been overhauled as well and at the same time.

The Jensen has been recently respray to as near original colour as could be found.

New lighting have been fitted at the same time and the door cards have been refurbished as well, all the chrome parts are in very good condition.

The Jensen has nicely wire wheels fitted with tyres in very good condition. The car is not a concours example but is in very nice useable condition.

There are photos evidence of all works carried out when restored and bills going back over 30 years.

CONDITION INTERIOR

The interior of this GT is a very functional place to be with its impressive dash layout and its original style three-spoke steering wheel.

DRIVING EXPERIENCE

The Jensen story is fascinating and as fifties GTs continue to return to favour, this lovely, restored 541 makes a very sensible proposition.

Look at it. It’s beautiful. A grille that hinges probably to allow for better air cooling, rear indicators mounted on the C pillars, the Jaguar MkII-esque rear, etc...

Nope, just a early series 1 convertible with a ford V8 in it.

Oh my god, those pictures of the Pagani Huayra’s! Hands down the most beautifully crafted car in the world right now IMHO.

I had the pleasure of seeing one in person at the Mecum Auctions in Monterey California, and I’m convinced that it’s a Steampunk spaceship from the future.

The thing I love about DeLorean’s is that you can buy one for like $35k and drive it to a supercar meet filled with dozens of $1 million+ cars and not look totally out of place.

Hey stranger, somehow I missed you when you came and left. I brought the SL600, even though it looks like a turd right now. Spotted your C6 though.

The vintage Bugatti was actually a Pursang. There is a legit real one in the area, but didnt come out today.

The E Type lightweight made some really awesome noises though, got to hear it start up when it left. Definitely scared a few people.

Next time Ill keep an eye out for you.

Yeah, those headlamp lenses look off to me. I tried to find the xkedata page on that one too, but gave up.

I’m sure it’s just a E-type underneath, and that’s cool with me - as long as he’s not telling anyone it’s an actual D-Type......
