Things that probably didn’t help this interaction:

My child being an angel

My wife laughing at me and taking this picture

Wearing a shirt with a sports car on it

Telling the truth “speed limit ? 50-55... my speed? 60-65... anywhere to be? No not really, just driving and lost track of my speed for a second or two.”

How does one loose track of their speed in a beetle?

To be fair, anything more than 45mph and the rattles, squeaks and vibrations all sound the same.

I had always heard not to tell them the speed you were going because it’s a confession.

I’d rather get a ticket than the shame I feel when my kids get me out of a ticket because they are so innocent and cute.

I’ve heard the same. If you know the speed limit, just say you were going that speed.

You also don’t want to say you don’t know. Sometimes best to just politely decline, though it’s hard to do that in a respectful way.

I don’t mind shame if it means no ticket, and I was thinking if she had been crying it might have helped.

Yeah, thats probably true, but it’s tough to defend a speeding ticket assuming the cop shows. I never would, I may show up to beg for a little break but it’s hard to argue with a radar gun.

I was trying to outrun the shame really. Ha

Is yours an R-line? The 2.0t has decent potential from what the VW people try to tell me.

Wow... the R-line is actually kinda pricey!

Mines a 2012 when the 2.0t was just called the turbo. They changed the name in 2014 to r-line to make it sound sportier. But yeah, in stock form it’s got enough motivation and it’s not hard to squeeze more hp. If I do any mods, I’ll start with suspension though.

And yes, brand new the gti is cheaper and better but the sporty beetles depreciate much more.
