Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

At a dealership literally a couple blocks from me.

106k miles, automatic (whatev), 2.5l. $7950.

What does oppo think? What’s the reliability like? What should I be watching out for (head gasket & timing belt obviously because Subaru)? How difficult to do home maintenance and repairs?

I’m not planning on keeping it forever (maybe two years tops) , but I definitely need something that will stand up to 70 miles per day commuting, for a one-car family.

May I recommend a 328i? I put 75 miles on mine each day.

What’s the maintenance cost like on that?

The 8 Subarus my family has owned have all served us well.

In the 14k miles I’ve put on it, all it has needed was an oil change, differential oil change, wiper blade change, and air filter change. Oh and I changed all the brake lights. That’s cost me $380.06. The diff oil change being $166.85 of that. Wiper blades were $40, which at the time I though was expensive, until I changed the blades on my sister’s explorer which also cost $40. Knock on wood, but it’s been very reliable.

I will say, my dad bought a 1996 Subaru Legacy new and put 190k on it in 8 years before it died.

Are those 70 mi/day highway miles? If so, why not a Cruze? I had a rental for week shortly after they came Stateside. My only complaint was wherever you lay your elbows, expect an uncomfortable surface.

Would you consider the sewww faunnccie grounded to the ground?

I have a wagon with the same engine and trans, but it’s too low mileage to speak to reliability. I’ve had it for a year and a half, and it hasn’t skipped a beat. The fuel economy is decent, the spark plugs are a bitch to access, and one day I’m assuming I’ll be replacing the head gaskets.

I had a rented Cruze not long ago, and while it wasn’t great, it’d definitely serve the necessary purpose.

I would certainly consider that super-Toyota. Hutto is a bit out of my way, but not ridiculous.

My family has to be getting close to a total of 1 million miles across all our Subarus.

I think this was the best era for subaru reliability. This car isn’t a fuel miser but should do you well if it was taken care of by it’s previous owner.
