Ive come up with an idea: Just post every possible random first car idea that pops into my head on Oppositelock!
Today’s idea isn’t very random: Find a cheap Mazda RX-7 FD , add the JDM rear seat , put fixed or sleepy headlights on it, and Single Turbo it.
There, pretty simple.
Edit: After all the negative support in the comments, I’ve come to a conclusion: this was stupid and Im not doing it for a while

Well, a dude got banned for spamming posts like that, so as long as you keep them far enough apart time wise, you should be good.

Depends on mod discretion. If you’re a brand new user who starts spamming posts (multiple within an hour) and insulting members who suggest you turn it down a little, then you get banned pretty fast. If you’ve been here a while and/or engage well with others (and the critiques/criticisms that come with that), you’ll be fine.
To add, mods are forum specific. People have been banned on Photography, but they can still post on Oppositelock, for example.

But there are 6 on Copart: 3 FBs and 3 FCs. There’s 10 on eBay and the lowest price I see is $10k. I wouldn’t really call that cheap.

The FD is fairly reliable, actually. The unreliable part is the sequential turbo setup, which is remedied with a single. The rotary meme didn’t really exist until the RX-8, and even that is almost exclusive to the 04-06 cars.

The Wankel is a high-strung monster and fitting a massive laggy single turbo to it is an awful idea especially if you’re a new driver or if you like money in general.
Giving a new driver that much power in a RWD chassis is going to end in expensive tears and this is assuming it works. It will spend most of its time broken or needing yet another repair. My Integra had like half the horsepower on a good day but I still had a few close calls - did you know that mountain roads are more dangerous at night and it’s not at all like Initial D?
Also, it’s a twenty-year-old Japanese car and one that’s non-functional. Expect random trim bits to start crumbling off when you stare at them too long, spending countless hours scouring eBay for replacements, and stocking up on metric sockets.
The solution is to buy a Miata and be cool like the rest of us. :D

Here in the UK, cheap FDs are much more plentiful.
However as a first car they would make no sense, insurance rates are very high for teenage drivers. Something like an RX-7 would have astronomical costs for this, not to mentioned the already sizeable insurance and tax groups.
Then there’s maintenance, safety and the general fact that first time drivers will not be handy with 250+ horses spinning up the rear wheels - especially since most of them lie in the upper echelon of the rev range, encouraging these inexperienced drivers to stay there more often. In other words, it promotes aggressive driving among people who could truly do without it.
Regardless, this idea serves well for a later car. Minus the sleepy headlights.
You gotta have pop-ups.

I would recommend purchasing Need for Speed Underground 2 for the time being. It’s kind of old so it’s not very expensive ($10 and up via a quick Ebay search) and as a bonus, I believe that it still has the most amount of customization in any racing game even today. You can live out all of your fixed headlight RX7 dreams without reliability concerns and much more. If you’ve never played it, it is arguably the best game in the series, the other best game being Most Wanted (2005, not the dumpster fire that was the 2012 version). You can even have a Miata as a starter car! You will need a PS2, original XBOX, GameCube (or early Wii) or need to deal with the 4:3 aspect ratio of the PC version (protip, you don’t even notice it while playing and it works with no tricks on windows 10). It’s such a good game that I still play it regularly.

Like CB was saying, as long as you don’t try to use Oppo as your own personal social media account where you describe every single detail of your life you should be A OK. And it’s moderators that will ban you, as far as I know, Kinja does not have an auto-ban feature (although knowing Kinja I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if they introduced one and accidentally banned half of the users on all of the major sites like Oppo or LALD)

The mods are generally nice and will even give you warnings if you are posting to the point where it could be like spamming. When you ignore those warnings or insult the mods giving you said warnings is when you are bound to get into trouble. If I were you I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Just try to be mindful that Oppo belongs to everyone who uses it and you won’t have any problems.

It’s a good post. The main problem people have is when you post a lot of extremely off topic things excessively. If you kept posting about how you were mad about how in 3rd period English this guy named Tom called you dumb, for example, people would probably get mad. If you posted relevant car or semi-car related content every hour or two, no one will try to ban you or anything.

Honestly, I don’t understand owning one except as a collector item/weekend car. It’s not reliable enough to daily, it’s more GT car than track toy, and the upkeep will bankrupt you.
