Something tells me this would be a worthy contender. One of these days I’ll take the jump. $50 for a bottle of Scotch I’ll do, but for some reason it doesn’t validate with rum.

Moonshine usually doesn’t have that high of a proof. The overproof rums are much more hair inducing than moonshine. When I camp in Hawaii I pack Bacardi 151 in order to save space (more alcohol per container). It’s like drinking gasoline.

Seriously people confuse blindness with strong abv when it comes to moonshine. It’s all proofed to be quite drinkable, it was the lead in the copper pots or bacteria or something that made people blind. Not the strength

Back during Prohobition some of the moonshine ended up containin methanol as a eesult of poor distilliation processes. It’s the methanol that would blind people. I’ve had commercial moonshine, and as you said, it’s pretty smooth. It’s like a very smooth, mellow vodka.
