I bet it has switch gear from other Fords; would not buy.

It’s a European Escort with some added items though, certainly not the clearly different US Escort. See the post by Highlander below and look at shape of the lights (indicators, front and rear) and the mirror placement.

I feel this post violates the prohibitions against trolling and shit stirring.

Well done.

That’s an Escort RS 1700 T, Ford’s idea for their Group B rally car.

Engine was a smaller version of the classic BDA but with a turbocharger (now “BDT” then). Tellingly it was RWD, with a rear gearbox, as if it were an Alfetta or a 924/928 (for better traction and weight distribution).

Ford did quite thorough (and promising) testing in the North of Portugal. Unfortunately for them some pesky guys from Ingolstadt thought the future involved 4WD, and you know how that turned out.

After a couple of years of development Ford cancelled the project to concentrate on a complete new design (a very wise move by the legendary Stuart Turner, who had come back as Ford’s motorsports boss). The engine lived on in that car, the RS200.

It seems there are only two or three (some say five) complete cars left. One is (or at least used to be) in the private collection of a certain Malcolm Wilson, who funnily enough early in his career at Ford had been testing a 1700 cc BDA Fiesta prototype for rallycross.

Sadly, I’ve been beaten to it....but it’s an RS1700T.

I Googled it afterwards. I don’t think I’ve came across this model before.
