Kinja'd!!!

This woke me up. Apparently the Veloster was driving in the road when the Fusion pulled in front of it from a side street. The Fusion got t-boned, and the Veloster then bounced into the parked Monte Carlo (which really sucks for the Monte Carlo driver). Everyone is up and walking around, but this is a reminder to drive safe.

At least the Camry is okay.

Ford is toast.

Chevy will be toast too i’m guessing due to age

Hyundai looks ok though.

My girlfriend’s parents were parked one car in front of the Camry, and were going “why couldn’t it have hit our car?”

I passed a really old Camry wagon last night that you would have loved. Thought about taking a pic, but traffic was moving, and I didn’t want to end up like this pictures.

Depends how hard it hit the front wheel, since it’s front-wheel drive.

You can’t stop the Camry. Bring your dents, bring your distracted drivers. It will survive to spite your girlfriend’s parents forever.

LCA, strut, hub assy and new wheel will fix it.

Unfortunately, that survival attitude rubbed off on their Jetta.

Re-read your reply, now I’m on board.

Also street parking is scary. We all need bigly driveways.

The Camry spontaneously developed bumper dents out of sympathy.

The area I live in is not terribly affluent. There are a massive number of those Chevys around here, and they get repaired by insurance fairly often.

The airbag going off in the Ford is a bad sign, but doesn’t make the car totally unrepairable.

Hyundais total really quickly for fairly minor things. I wouldn’t be shocked if the repairs to it approach the level of the Ford, despite looking fairly minor. I say this as one who hears total-loss-estimate stories fairly regularly, living with an estimator.

Dont know what happened but I immediately jump to blaming the dumbass for pulling out from a side street. I dont care how much the other car was speeding, right of way is fucking right of way. People are just so careless when pulling out. Yeah slowing down is a good idea BECAUSE of those idiots just because defensive driving, but still I hate those idiots.

The problem is also that it’s a yield sign, not a stop sign for the side street, so traffic coming from the side street doesn’t have to stop, just yield to the main street’s traffic. Add some parked cars on the side of the road to block sight lines and the fact that it’s early morning so people aren’t 100% awake, and you have a recipe for an accident.

Oh yeah it 100% takes more than one mistake to cause an accident generally, its kind of impossible for only one person to make it unavoidable, regardless of fault and legality and stuff. Road design certainly doesnt help in this case I guess. Its funny how poorly followed yield signs are. You either get people that blow through them or complete stop every time. Its the same reason why traffic circles never seem to work in the US.

Saskatoon only recently put in most of the yields. They had uncontrolleds in half the residential areas when I first moved there.

Not uncommon at all on the prairies. Generally though you don’t see them anywhere other than the smaller towns, but Saskatoon is a bit of a holdout on becoming a “modern” city.
