Steve Vai with “Tender Surrender.” Just something for your head space. Im noticing that online interactions are becoming more and more negative and aggressive lately all over the web. It seems as if many are in attack mode and it’s hard to find words of praise anywhere.
This is completely understandable since last year and this year especially have been relentless in unloading bad news after bad news across a global scale and all the way down to the most personal and intimate levels of our lives. So since praise is hard to come by let me say this, regardless of whether youre active on Oppo or have never typed a word here, I feel very fortunate to have your time, thoughts, and opinions. Even if you (lurkers) dont share your thoughts or opinions you do share your time and that’s the one thing out of the three that you cant take back or hold on to.
I appreciate that you spend your time here on Oppo and I want you to know that you’re welcome here. Im writing this mostly as a reminder to myself since I know that I havent felt welcomed anywhere online lately.
Also, while I have you here, I think that youre super boss for reading my words in your own voice inside your head while somehow managing to extract my personality. When else can we share a voice without sharing a space or opinion?! I think that’s pretty neat, kin. If only real life worked like read life...

I lurk a lot more often than I post, but no lie, about 15 minutes ago I thought to myself “I feel like Wobbles hasn’t posted in a while. I hope he’s alright.” I certainly don’t share your level of enthusiasm for Hyundai/Kia (I don’t know if anyone does), but I enjoy reading your posts even when I disagree with them.

Ive just been busy and I have fun with the Hyundai-Kia stuff. It’s all the groaning over every new car that has annoyed me and it started to show in my posts. Seriously, we have some truly incredible cars rolling out and I feel like they arent being supported and the few people that do support them get hounded in the comments section.

I get why people are in attack mode, and honestly, I have been falling into that trap (hopefully not on here, and if so, I apologize) because it’s just so much easier (and worse). I try to be welcoming but man I’ve felt kinda like a dick recently no matter how I try not to and really hate it.

It’s like everyone feels that you have to have strong opinions about everything now. You have to either love something or despise it, and if someone disagrees with you they are a terrible person or something. People on the internet love faux outrage. “What do you mean you don’t like Cilantro? Clearly you don’t deserve to be happy in life with that terrible opinion!” or something like that. Me, I love cars but I can’t bring myself to buy a new one. I just bought a 5 year old car and that was a huge step for me. There are a lot of interesting cars coming out now, but it will be many years before they’re in my price range.

Same here and Im abnormally nice by nature! The negative air is so thick everywhere now that it sticks to us and with us and weighs us down. We need to add lightness and get pure again.

Exactly my feelings too! But Im also obsessed with where the industry is going so I have all these speculations for every brand now that goes out to 2025. I’m more excited for new cars because of where they are going than what they are.

Years ago, my son and I had to build a birdhouse for a cub scout project. I am pretty sure that any bird that flew into that thing would have impaled itself on one of the many nails that were used to hold absolutely nothing together. I must admit that I’m not the handiest person in the world, but my kid had no abilities whatsoever in that regard!
