Doesn’t seem to know about the new air-cooled tax, and I really wish I had 2k to go pick this thing up. (Link in comments in case of Kinja)

My folks had a 77 type 2 with the 2.0, first year for fuel injection I believe - it was a surprisingly torquey little motor. The cold start valve was sh!t, but once you weld a plate over it, it runs wonderfully.

I had a 76 Super with fuel injection. I had blocked the painful memories of the damn cold start valve. Thanks now I’ll have nightmares.

Buy it. Put the Type4 engine in a Ghia coupe. Put NA 993 drivetrain in the 914. You gotta keep it aircooled. Bam nice daily and track car.

haha, from the looks of it, you might need to budget a lot of time for that trip. And bring some tools. Actually just bring a flatbed trailer. But a $2k 914 and a trip to Jackson!

This is all true, but a $2K 914 might just be worth it.
