It was insulting on two fronts. First, the car sounded AWFUL. I’m not sure what exhaust he had on it, or if there was any muffler at all, but it was the absolute classic ‘fart can’ sound.
Second, the car was crazy slow, so the fly-by took forever. From two car lengths back to the time he passed me (cruising at like 40mph) took about ten seconds, so I really had plenty of time to go through the whole process of hearing the thing.
“The shit is that?”
“Oh lord, its that Del Sol.”
“Man, that thing sounds terrible...does that sound good to him?”
“Okay, I mean I hear him coming, but where is he?”
*He passes me but keeps going, except he’s slow so he’s barely moving away from me*
“Oh my god, when will this end?”
“I should have bought a Lexus instead of a Miata.”
“Shift! Shift you jerk!”
And finally he did. But I had to follow him for the next mile and a half, so I was objectively the loser here.
On the plus side, I worked 11.5 hours today and feel pretty great. Lots of OT at the new job, can’t argue with it.

reminds me of the time I was driving east on 696, and in the lane to my right was an early ‘00 Civic which had been slammed and stanced. it had zero suspension travel so I can’t understand why the idiot 19-year-old douche-bro asshole didn’t have his girlfriend demand he pull over and let her out the 24th or 25th time they banged their heads together (and not in a “giggity” way.)
also reminds me of the time back in 2002 I was driving a prototype 2003 Viper for a weekend. I was puttering down a street in my city, and as I passed a side street the dumbass 18-year-old moron waiting at the end of his street sat there bouncing his piece of shit Jetta off of its rev limiter. Like I was supposed to be impressed at the pile of garbage he was driving.

I also happened to get stuck behind a late 90s Honda Accord with a fart can. My god, what is with these shitty Non VTEC Hondas putting those loud exhausts. They never sound good. Hondas sound good by induction, not by exhaust you fools... On a side note, VTEC induction noise sounds fucking amazing.
As expected, he tries to show off his...acceleration? I stayed with his ass half throttle without even kicking into VTEC. And of course he cuts corners, taking half his car into the inside lane while “going fast”.

I was driving to work this morning on the interstate and this one CLA250 with a FL was just hogging the left lane doing ~75. I went to undertake him and the fucker speeds up, I had to get to 90+ to over take him. Once I over take him, I slow back down to my cruising speed and he eventually slows back down to ~75 and continues to impede traffic. What the fuck. I really don’t like that car. Mainly because people only buy it as a status symbol. Congrats you spent 30k on that, good job.

Thats what so weird. It isn’t a Honda problem, VTEC Hondas sound great...I had a ‘97 Prelude that I loved the sound of. But putting a big open exhaust on a car like this one, not only does it sound shitty but you’ve probably made the car slower in normal driving.

I love the ones with such a wide car disparity. I remember driving a ‘92 Mustang (this is probably 10-12 years ago), I was dicking around on the highway and saw a Ford GT flying up behind me. Did I try to race him? Hell no, he had twice the power I did. I rolled my window down and enjoyed the crazy ass sound of that thing as he flew by me going 120 and I went on my way. I doubt he would have been intimidated by my maybe-300hp Mustang.

Pretty much same car as my 01 Prelude SH. It does sound good. Especially when it is not drowned out by some accord with a fart can 100 ft away. WRX exhaust sounds good so I understand putting an exhaust on those for the boxer rumble.

It started burning a lot of oil. This was a while ago, I was probably 21 or so when I had it, so maybe 11 years back? Cool car, I was working all over New England at the time installing paint protection film...I and two other guys (BMW 323 and Lancer Evo) would all head out to the cape going about 110 the whole time, it was pretty good. I think I bought a Talon TSI after I sold the Honda.

Yeah...I have that same issue. Black spots all over my back bumper. And at the very least it is burning a quart every 250 mile tank. It’s such a good car and I wouldn’t mind a little oil topping off but this is beyond that.

I was over at a friend’s last weekend enjoying a cigar out on his patio when I heard one of the local Civic bros launch from the stop sign on the next block and bounce the thing off the rev limiter repeatedly. Pretty normal occurrence.
Except this time the revs flattened out after a brief moment and I realized one of the neighbors had just started their lawn mower.
Now I understand why ‘lawn mower’ is a common derogatory term for a loud Honda.

One time a yellow Gen metro tried to do a fly by on me. I was already doing tenover 65 in a 55. I felt insulted so I decided to speed up, and see what happened, I was in my 01 Civic, and I spkept it in 5th. I let off at 85 and the Geo was behind me.

There was this wonderful old YouTube video of two Civics (or similar) racing one another. Then, out of nowhere, you see a Mustang Cobra just blow past both of them. While they were racing. It was hilarious.

For a second I was really kinda hoping this was my dad, LOL. But He hasn’t driven his car in a while.
Long story short he just picked up a Del Sol as a cheap commuter and to get it to pass inspection he had to put a new exhaust on it. So he picked up a full stainless catback system from eBay. Overall its a fairly nice looking well built kit, but it is crazy loud and annoying. So now you have this guy pushing 60 driving around in the worlds most obnoxious sounding Del Sol and he’s very self conscious about it. But we’ve already begun the process of fabricating a silencer for it since he rejected my plan of just cutting off the fart tube muffler and sticking an actual muffler on the car.
