The first is virtually every single day here in Virginia, had two cars do that back to back while I was trying to make a green light and another almost do it while my green arrow had just come on. People here think that right on red has some miraculous right of way that is on the same level as an ambulance with it’s lights on.

On the one hand, you’re right. On the other, the lane I was in is a ramp lane that I was just getting on the highway in and which ends a little further down. There is no reason whatsoever for anyone who is already in the continuing lanes to move right unless someone is being stupidly slow.
As for “why” I do it... the highway splits just beyond here, and what with people moving from one side to the other trying to get in the correct lane—including people who just entered needing to push over 3 lanes—I find that 90% of the time it’s both easier and safer to just stay in my lane and burn past. I need the highway that splits to the right, so I see no need to fight the mess that happens in the middle when I’m already in a position to skip the whole snarl.

Also, those chairs are STACKABLE. And not heavy enough to need to balance them out.

The same thing happened to me this morning. I was going 60+ on the service road for a highway in the middle lane, some dumbass in a 07ish Lexus ES pulls out into the middle lane right in front of me. I’m guessing there was maybe 3 feet of space before I would have hit him had I not swerved into the left lane.
