I just picked up an Unlocked Rose Gold iPhone 6S with 64GB storage for $200. The only catch is that I’ll eventually want to replace the screen...Hey, at least I can make up my mind on what car I want to drive! :D

This brings my collection to 4 phones: Honor 8, Honor 5X, Nextbit Robin, iPhone 6S. I sold off the others recently.

I’ll actually be keeping my Honor 5X instead of flipping it then selling it. While I can make a decent profit off the phone, it has been the best cheap Android I’ve ever bought. $40 got me a hilariously long way. Plus like, expandable memory and I can’t have any of my hacked apps on iOS...

Time to celebrate! Post fun things!

Hey, at least I can make up my mind on what kind of car I want to drive!

FTFY. You still have three to pick from.

Actually, just one! I already have a system developed for which car to pick.

Haha that’s great. It wasn’t that long ago you were thinking about abandoning Tucker all together. Prior to you acquiring Phil.

Indeed! I was casually cruising eBay (something that’s bad for me to do) looking at Galaxy S7 prices when I bumped into that phone. I couldn’t say no!

Well done. I’m going to drop a bit more on one for Mrs. addiction:

128GB iPhone 6s: $549

She wanted to keep her beloved headphone jack.

Just noticed a refurb like she wanted on Apple’s site for $80 cheaper - going to she if she wants to do that.

It has a small crack on the bezel of the screen and some light scratching, but otherwise it’s solid!

Just ordered the refurb - haha - thanks for motivating me to look for a better price!

That is amazingly light damage.

Welcome to the 6s club! I have space grey and really don’t want to upgrade because of the cost and the lack of a headphone jack (all my headphones have wires including my Bose Noise Cancelling ones). It’s too bad my battery is starting to go. I might pay to get a new battery installed instead of upgrading or get a battery case or something. Sounds like a great price for yours too!

How do you like the Honor? Been thinking of picking up a Blu Studio Mega

I missed my old 6 so much...but the 6 is 3 years old now, so why not the better (and prettier Rose Gold) sequel!

I expect my battery to be pretty terrible too, but nothing $10 and my trusty set of screwdrivers can’t fix. :) Which, I could fix your battery too!

The Honor’s a really solid phone with some strange quirks. It only rolls with 2GB of RAM, so it runs out of steam really quickly. For example, if you have both Google Maps/Waze open and Spotify, the phone won’t have the resources to something like send a text or make a phone call.

Same deal with Chrome, too many tabs and the phone falls all over itself. The stock Rom, while pretty, is so bad at managing RAM.

So of course, you could just get a custom Rom. A Rom like Resurrection Remix makes the phone work like it has twice the RAM, it’s really glorious! But then, in my experience certain apps just didn’t want to work in RR for inexplicable reasons. So then you’re stuck trying out custom Roms to see what works and what doesn’t. Eventually I just got frustrated and went back to the somehow slightly less broken stock Rom.

My verdict? It’s an awesome cheap phone, but the cheapness does show at least a little.

Hmm, I may just spend the money having the screen and digitizer replaced on my s7 edge than replace it with a cheap phone.

Me too lol! I think I could do it based on the videos I’ve watched but I’m scared of doing anything that could compromise the battery and turn it into a ticking time bomb. Like if I dented it when installing or something.

Oh I wouldn’t worry about that. :)

I’ve installed and taken out several (dozens?) of iPhone batteries, the biggest thing you’ll want to worry about is puncturing them. They can handle bending and dents pretty well so long as they aren’t actually punctured.

Otherwise, the hardest part will be getting it off the adhesive, which isn’t too bad. Should be about a 5-10 minute job. :)

Now, I do recommend (if you’re crazy like me) taking the battery outside and puncturing it...they make a rather cool looking fire!
