If only four would make a real Lightning. With the engine from the GT. 640hp would make a nice street rod truck

If not the full 640 it would need at least 500hp, and yeah a manual option would be nice

That’s actually really cool. In something like that I wouldn’t mind an auto. The manual truck I’ve driven was no where near as fun as a manual car.

Wait, did the dealership jam a Coyote in there?

Manual trucks are fun, but not the same as a car with a manual trans.

Honestly, I’m not sure if I’d prefer a supercharged SVT clone to be a manual or not... If it was turbo, I’d definitely say auto. If it was HP through large displacement, I’d say manual. But on this I’m undecided...

I do like the SVT badging. Phantom special editions are fun. No one will mistake it for a true Lightning, but the owner gets to pretend what it would be like to own an SVT Lightning in that body style.

The F-150 can be had with a Coyote.

I had a diesel F250 as a work truck and while that could have been fun with a manual, it was still alright with an auto. I think manual trucks can be fun, but just not as fun as a manual car.

I do like the idea of the truck and since there is no real lightening.

Thought you could get a F150 with a Coyote.

Manual makes everything fun. See also: tractor.

If you have to wait for boost to build, I’d much rather have an auto. (The manual/turbo combo is OK in my Legacy GT, but I’d much rather have the same power without a turbo). An auto would let you stay on the throttle and on the boost while it shifts.

Besides, truck manual transmissions aren’t as fun as car transmissions. Long throws, wide ratios... It’s great for when you need to control your speed, but not fun to drive hard. It’s fun when you have a lot of torque to pull hard through each gear, but when you have a ton of horsepower, I’m not sure it’ll be as fun, and the auto will likely be a lot faster.

Plus tractor manual transmissions are horrible. Great for controlling speed and multiplying torque (which is exactly what a tractor needs), but horrible to drive. You don’t even need to shift them, which is 90% of the fun of a manual trans in a car. Just stick it in a gear and go.

Well, I’ve had fun driving a manual tractor.

It’s th mid grade option for the F-150, 2.7 ecoboost is the base engine now, then the 5.0, and the 3.5 ecoboost. The 5.0 Coyote replaced the 5.4 Triton in 2011, or 12.

Gotcha.

I grew up on a farm around a bunch of older tractors (mostly Farmall Ms, but a few bigger and a few smaller ones too). Once the novelty wears off, there’s not a lot of fun in them. The fact that they’re manual transmission doesn’t really matter, you pick a gear and go, and you only shift if you chose wrong in the first place. Standing on one of those M’s clutches makes you appreciate how light automotive clutches are, even the ones that people complain about.

There is one fun thing about tractors though: dual brake pedals, one for each rear wheel. You don’t need a posi when you can individually control the rear brakes, and you can literally spin around one rear tire if you want.

So, we just moved to a new place on 10 acres. One of my wife’s uncles has offered us their old Ford tractor and attachments. Just have to figure out a way to go get it and find (build) a place to store it!

I had no idea the F150 had the Coyote! I want something to hold 4 ppl plus camping/biking/skiing/paddling/surfing ish, has 4/AWD, and has like 500 HP. This plus supercharger could be my ticket!

Well, I’m jealous. I’d love to have some extra land for parking and playing, and those little Ford tractors look rather handy.

But you don’t need a shed for a tractor. It’s a work implement, who cares if it’s pretty? (Well, if it was recently restored, maybe....) Growing up, our tractors were only inside overnight only if they couldn’t drive themselves back out of the shop.

You could always drive it home too, road gear might let you travel at 25mph (god knows I’ve spent my share of time going at top speed in a tractor on gravel roads, or following behind in the pickup). Or don’t do that, it’s frustratingly slow.

It’s been incredible so far! http://oppositelock.kinja.com/rejoice-with-me-oppo-1797127342

I suppose you’re right, but I think it’s been inside all these years, so I kind of hate to leave it out when it’s been cared for so well.

Driving it home at 25 mph would take me roughly 12 hours. =)

You definitely need a blade or a box scraper or some dirt working attachment for that tractor. How else would you carve a track into the dirt? (Well, other than lapping continuously in a rally car...)

Seriously, congrats on the new property.

Not sure if it comes with a blade, but definitely has a brush hog and a couple attachments.

Hopefully we’ll be lapping with 4-wheelers, and off-road go-kart, and my old Pathfinder soon - ha!

Thanks. It’s a dream come true.
