Could be the alternator, could be the voltage regulator, could be the alternator and voltage regulator are bad and killed the battery.

Yup, definitely the alternator. The warning lamp contains an electrochromic filament that changes color in accordance with the source of the failure. Blue light means battery, green light means ground, and red light means alternator.
